Tracking toy tariffs

Yeah, he was stubborn. He also fell in with the church and seemed to convince himself that whatever happened was God's will and even started thinking of himself as some sort of sacrifice in the end. Sad stuff. One of many to get their brains scrambled by the surge of right-wing talking points over the last 10-15 years. He was a really smart guy too, but I guess proof that no one is immune to that sort of brain rot.

Pivoting back to the topic of tariffs, some interesting tariff talk at the beginning of this interview with Matt from Nerdzoic. He mentions he saw the price increases that Hasbro was going to put forth before Trump backed off which included an increase to $30 for basic Legends. I think that's roughly what most thought would happen. The guy does love to talk and can ramble on so there's definitely times where I drifted in and out. If you're willing to put the work in, there's some good stuff. And if you're a Marvel guy and curious about the next Maximum release, I feel like he might be throwing cold water on the Deadpool assumption. Or not, as I have no idea what circles he frequents.

Alright, so I just got my first post-tariff package in directly from China.

Package shipped from Bombusbee in China and was the Fish Toy Horse, made in China. It was $75 ($10 first time shopper coupon applied) and I chose free shipping, using the method "Large Parcel Shipping by Boat". So I thought this thing is definitely getting flagged by de minimis or whatever. It took a month to get here, and it came over by boat. Last leg of shipping was handled by FedEx.

There's no customs form on the box. There looks to have been a label that has another label over it saying "MADE IN CHINA" and a barcode underneath that. That's it. FedEx didn't ask me for anything, and no signature was needed for the package.

Will I get a bill in the mail? I'll update if I do. Right now I feel like the old guy in the Shirt Brothers skit from I Think You Should Leave. Are there rules???? I'm so confused.

Horse is excellent BTW. I prefer it to the Legion's horse. It's a tad smaller, easier to pose and the articulation nicer. But wrong forum .

I can only speak about how I know postage due mail works with the USPS, or COD, or that sort of thing, but I'd say if they were gonna be collecting money from you, they wouldn't have given you the package first.

what package? 👀

This is interesting info. As I was contemplating ordering a D20/Fish horse figure from Bombusee as well. May go with Gundamit. Price becomes about the same.

My HLJ package has moved smoothly through the postal system, so far. Package acceptance in Japan on the 31st and expected delivery today. They have routed it to a small town PO just outside my town. Never seen that before. I can guarantee they'll make a delivery attempt when no one is home to sign.

My package from Cool Toys Club did not come with an additional charge when it arrived a couple weeks ago. The shipper either ate the charge or found a way to circumvent it. The JoyToy figure inside was only 40 bucks so they may have simply declared it wasn't worth even that much and got away with it. That's what's so stupid about the new de minimis restrictions. For a lot of stuff, the value is so low that shippers will risk the small amount that it cost them to declare it so low that the tariff is not impactful. And if it doesn't work they can just not pay and only be out tens of dollars. That's part of why these exemptions exist in the first place.

I've got one coming from LT Cave today. It got a new tracking number in CA so I assume they shipped a bulk shipment to a warehouse and de minimus wouldn't apply. And I guess they just ate the tarriff duty other than that.

I ordered some Mega Construx MOTO figures from China via Ebay. Arrived with no fees. Label seemed like an original label from China too.

I missed the first delivery attempt by 1 hour, thanks a lot Trump. Now I have to be inconvenienced by standing in line at the post office to pick up a package.

Welp.

That answers how NECA is responding to tariffs.

Extra 10% tariff surcharge added to my Wednesday retro preorders this afternoon. First time seeing that. Wound up being around $9.38 extra.

Entertainment Earth never dropped the prices back down so I'm paying an extra ~5-10% on everything. Many of the customs fees on the items in my AliExpress cart have dropped significantly. I was able to order some dolls (knockoff Mizi Adonis bodies, not that anyone cares lol) at $11 a piece and the tariff charge was less than a dollar per. My CT Toys Gambit is also on the way, the tariff charge a similar ~10%. So, yeah, from 100% tariff charge to 10%, it's not as good as it was but at least it's acceptable.
