DCAU/Batman Animated

I forget which wave it was but one of them quite literally had listings on Target and never went up for like 2 months. It was assumed in store only and it wasn't until the next wave went up that the previous wave popped up as well. I think it was Bruce Wayne's wave.

Yeah, this did happen, and then they canceled them anyway. Don’t know if everyone had that experience, it it did not work out for me.

I had already ordered the Bruce Wayne wave from overseas sellers as well as Ebay/Mercari. So basically spending $215+ on a wave that later popped up and then was apparently cancelled for most. Ironically the Jonah Hex wave worked out the exact same for me as apparently it did for you. Had to source Croc elsewhere...despite having the DC Direct one.

I think this will be my 5th or so Batman and 3rd Joker that's basically the same. Excited to order a Harvey Bullock that I already have, but at least he doesn't have the cel shading! I still don't know why he would make Montoya the BAF, she was a regular figure previously, just more exclusive. The BAF should be someone worthwhile like Red Claw, the Tiger Tiger wolf guy, Rupert Thorne or Mayor Hill.

Is there another wave rumored? I remember Montoya as the BAF being rumored, but then it they announced Clock King. As much as I’d rather have Red Claw or The Ninja, I’ll be happy to sit out the next wave if Montoya is the BAF, as I already have her.

I received my set from cmdstore today.

I probably should not have spent extra on the Batman Platinum, but I quite like The Joker Platinum, though including 10 hands is ridiculous. What is with this line where they give you a ton of hands, but nothing to hold with them? Why can’t they split the difference?

Clock King is cool, very happy to add him to the collection. I like the time sword thing and the time device, but I think I need to source a 1:12-scale pocket watch for him. To the person who was asking, his body is mostly a repaint of the Riddler as far as I can tell. However, they did remove the pocket and pocket square from his jacket. You’ll also need different hands, since Riddler’s has the glove cuffs.

Zatanna looks damn near identical to the original. I give them credit for having the sense to include a stand with her, but it is the same stand used in the TNBA line and they couldn’t be bothered to change the logo — typical low effort from McFarlane Toys. Also, her wand looks like a spaghetti noodle, just sitting in the package it is floppy looking. I’ll use the stand for another animated figure (after spray painting it white), but Zatanna goes into the stack of extra McFarlane BTAS figures I’ve amassed.

Mad Hatter at least gets a bit of a color variant, lighter blue and lime green, and he has some decent accessories, but he goes in the pile too .

If anyone is interested in McF BTAS figures without BAF pieces and trading cards, hit me up. I’ll give you a good deal.

One of his hands he comes with is holding a watch. That's how I have him. I received my set today. It was nice to just be able to order something without the Target hoops. Honestly the idea of paying this much for straight reissues with sloppier paint doesn't endear me much to the line. I sometimes wonder if I should just sell it off and go with Mondo instead since each character feels like a true release with plenty attached to that character coming with them. I'm not all that fond of the Mondo Joker or Catwoman but those two and Batman have been rumored for redo's. Clock king is decent enough, it's hard to make out much facial detail when it's just straight peach plastic though. This is like my 3rd Joker looking the same in purple, it's a good thing they included the machine gun fingers on the one set of hands because now I literally CAN make the machine gun Joker robots from the series that the Joker had. Zatanna is meh, Batman is alright. Hatter is the only one besides Clock King I didn't have, so I'm happy to get those two. Hatter is basically a brick of a figure.

All but confirmed that Montoya is the BAF next wave. I believe it was Talia, Bullock, Scarface/Ventriloquist, and Robin reissued yet again. Hopefully they'll find some place to toss in Penguin somewhere even though that face sculpt on him is total junk.

You know, I sort of missed the stop watch in the hand. I thought it looked that way in the package, but when I pulled it out, I didn't see it. The gold is so dull and close to the skin color it is barely noticeable. Thanks for pointing it out. I could apply better gold paint, but I think I still want a stop watch with a chain that he can swing around. We'll see...

The Mondo stuff is great, I have a few, but they take up too much space compared to how many 6" figure I can fit on a shelf.

I'm very happy to sit out the next wave. I guess Montoya and repainted Riddler reflect cost cutting on the final BAFs.

That's my main impediment, space. I have limited my Mondo X-Men, only have ClayFace and Two-Face from BTAS, and am now stuck buying the remaining 2 TMNT whenever those come out. In addition to the Real Ghostbusters and MOTU 200X in the 1/12th scale. I think I could probably collect the BTAS slowly over time and backfill those that I missed. I'd just need to get a display case and throw out the boxes as they are their own space sink.

Found Mad Hatter and variant Batman yesterday, so now I have a Clock with without arms and legs. Hoping to finish this guy sooner than later. (Jonah Hex was missing his torso for months...)

So, looks like Montoya is the final BAF. A bit underwhelming, honestly. Was really hoping for Red Claw, but if nothing else, it's nice to be able to sit this one out; I've had Montoya since the original release. Now to try and track down the 3 BAFs I still need.

I suppose anything is possible, but I believe this is the last (scheduled) BAF wave before he loses the license. Todd did technically give us a Catwoman with the unmasked release way back when, didn't he? Then again, he re-released Bullock back then too, and Bullock is in this new wave as well. Todd does what Todd wants, after all.
