Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

Can't help but feel like 4 Horsemen could take a hosing on this if tariffs really come to pass and don't roll back.

I appreciate their optimism, but they could be betting the farm on this. Heck I'm wondering if they'll be able to fulfill a project this size if the tariff situation doesn't clear up because shipping three to four thousand five-foot-long dragons from China would be cataclysmic.

Yeah, I don't see how the math works out on that at all, unless they were pricing this thing to make crazy huge profits to begin with. But I'm interested in hearing about this sort of thing as a case study...

Well, I thought I had talked myself out of it, but faced with a deadline, I put in an order for the flame add on set. Can't do the whole dragon, but I figure I can mock up some sorta cave mouth at the back of my shelf, to have the head & neck popping out of.

That could definitely look cool and be a great representation of the dragon without taking up so much space and draining the bank account.

I really am waiting til the last possible moment to decide on this thing.

But on a less hyper-expensive note, got Stravros, Sir Elijah, and the Turpiculi today. Stavros is kind of exactly what you'd expect, though he's the first of the dragon-dudes whose tail was not a huge PITA to attach (the armor he has on doesn't impinge hooking the tail onto the waist unlike the others).

I can see why Elijah is so popuar with folks posting about ML lately. He's a great figure. Though all three knights in this last wave were beautiful. (I was only going to get Gideon, was blown away by him, picked up Avalric, and then a few weeks later caved and was like welp, why not all three.)

The Turpiculi is so creepy. I was going to skip him but I'd gotten the ghoul beastmaster / summoner woman and I wanted this guy to flesh out her menagerie.

My guess is 4H thinks the tariffs will be over by the time the dragon ships.

I think their statement was a little naive, and I'm selfishly mad that the Trumpers took a victory lap in the Instagram comments, but I don't entirely blame them. The tariffs are going to generate massive pushback. They already have. Not to mention that fact that we're probably facing a global recession if they aren't rolled back soon.

Seems clear to me that Beyithirr will pass 4000 today. It jumped from 3100 to 3500 yesterday, and the Four Horseman said their crowdfunding campaigns have all surged on the last day more than most places since they can't do delayed payments with their web site software Shopify. Hasbro used to use Shopify on Pulse, but they probably wrote custom code for it that the Horsemen can't afford.

I haven't ordered yet but probably will. I wouldn't be surprised if it gets above 6000, but we'll see. They should consider doing updates throughout the day since when the numbers get rolling it really encourages people to act on their FOMO.

They did a few extra updates yesterday on Instagram, I think. I'm sure they'll be some during the telethon thing going on now.

As for 4H's attitude on tariffs — I think if this is all going on in 2027 (Let's be honest here), how they're going to get a dragon over here will be the least of their — and likely, our — problems. Hell, there are five or six outstanding waves to come from 4H. How are those going to be impacted in the near term?

That all makes my head want to explode. I'm with 4H and trying to keep a positive outlook on the future as I hem and haw on the dragon till about 10:55 p.m.

That's actually a good point about how shipping a dragon in 2027 is the least of any of our problems if this is still going on in two years. I'm more concerned about how much it's gonna cost to get all those bowling-ball sized bears into the country in a few months.

My wife finally talked me into backing the dragon and the flame set because she's a big proponent of supporting independent artists, now more than ever. It's roughly the size of the Ikea Rudsta I use as my ML display cabinet so it should look right at home standing on top like the opening of Record of Lodoss War.

I went all in for the big guy. Super excited. It's going to perch on the bookshelf behind me and will be in all of my work skype meetings. At least until my coworkers start calling me Khaleesi 😅

Will be watching the progress today. I think we're going to hit 4k. Personally, I don't care much for the last knight, but my wife thinks he's really cool, and I do like the metal faces. And an extra figure in general is super cool. Really great that likely everything will be unlocked. I'm also really happy for the Four Horsemen. What a dream come true. I hope they feel really proud.

The tariffs are coming at a time where my collecting habits are shifting away from catching up on teams and lines that begun before I started back in 2018, to cherry picking fewer things simply because of space and because I have really great versions of characters I love. If collecting becomes too cost prohibitive, though, this dragon is a great capstone on an era of my life. Moving on would probably mean picking up a few choice things a year while selling things that I've lost my love for. And using my artistic talents to start creating my own accessories and dio's for them.

Latest update has us just 168 away from the Fury unlocking. Seems to be right on target for that. I’m not crazy about it this last one either but added value is added value. The metal face masks are cool.

I'm curious how close they're getting to 4k - where's the best place to keep an eye on updates? I follow them on IG and FB but I know they don't have a live tracker.
