Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

To be fair, do we actually know that the 'Mattel sent it to me' thing is actually true?
Oh yeah! Like the guy who got the NECA Pamela Voorhees early and said “my friend bought this for me at a corner store for $5”

… also I’ve not been paying attention to this line since I don’t need movie MotU figures, but is that a stock photo of the ADAM blank body on the front to promote the articulation?! The Scareglow sure looks to be similar in terms of articulation to the ADAM… and if that’s the case, I’m sorry Mattel, I was unaware you upped your game, please make this Scareglow easy to obtain, I would very much like to give you money in exchange for one. (The term “inaugural edition” worries me, like it’s going to be a Mattel Creations limited edition before the movie figures hit or something and then I gotta wait three years for the retail “okay, new box! now the rest of you can have!” version)

I'm just saying I would need way harder, thicker, deeper proof that Mattel... fucking Mattel, said to a human person that they otherwise do not know "hey, we don't have a replacement figure for you so how about we send you an unannounced, unreleased figure from a brand new line that won't even be in stores officially for two months?" That is so wildly insane, if true, that it's simply not believable without proof.

But it's a way better story than 'my cousin stole this off a truck.'

Ooooh okay, very VERY different design-wise. I'm curious if these were ever intended to be the same figure, because the Chronicles figure shares almost no details.

Yeah, that art is clearly trying to get people to be like 'ooh, can we have classic toy Scare Glow?' -- OR, alternatively, they were planning to do a New Eternia or, maybe more likely, 'Vintage-style' Scare Glow at some point and it never made it to a final enough form to be worth releasing before the switch to Chronicles.
Definitely can't see that art being a hint at the new figure we're getting.

If the Chronicles line decides to use the new bodies to re-make classic toy figures, I will be in trouble.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha

Of course they fucking will.

We’re gonna be rebuying DC toys recently made by McFarlane *and* souped-up versions of MotU stuff Mattel itself made incredibly recently.

These are the guys who released Masterverse and Vintage Teela within a couple months of each other, and that wasn’t even a functional upgrade.

Oh yeah, you're almost certainly right.
I'm mostly leaving room for the possibility that, for whatever reason, the line tanks and Mattel decides to pivot to something else.
