Mattel MOTU Chronicles Movie Figures

Well, that's exciting! If Mattel can keep that secrecy and surprise up through their DC line, they're gonna get beaucoup brownie points in my book.

In the little research I've done so far into MOTU, Scareglow is a character that seems like he's right up my alley, so this being legit excites me. He could look hella cool with some of the old ML Mysterio smoke effects, or some of those green smoke cloud effect things.

Yeah, the pictures didn't look AI, too imperfect in quality in regards to packaging and the figure itself. Ecstatic that it's getting an official announcement but that sorta makes me ask why the hell we didn't see this, or any non-movie MotU product in general, at Toy Fair. This is an insanely exciting direction for standard Chronicles to be going in, though.

This is just pure joy for me.
*This* character, done in *this* style, with *this* level of individualized detail?
The only only other thing they could show that could get me this excited is a Chronicles mini-comic style Trap-Jaw.

I am seriously over the moon. This is one of the coolest toys I have ever seen in my entire life, and it just pushes my personal buttons SO HARD.

I guess they really wanted to focus on the movie at Toy Fair. It's possible revealing Scare-Glow in the Chronicles line at TF could have created confusion as to whether Scare-Glow would appear in the film.

Imagine. Announcing things at an event for announcing things. I couldn't!

Either way, no better way to announce a MotU line than with Scareglow. They should announce every MotU thing by showing off Scareglow, in fact.
Yes, I wrote many years ago that Scare-Glow had become MOTU's Boba Fett.

(I still prefer the interpretation that Scare-Glow is the literal ghost of Skeletor from a future after his death, but I acknowledge that's just not the way the character has developed.)

I just find it a bit strange and counter-intuitive to let these be leaked instead of just... showing them off. How hard could it have been to section off an area for these, the other accompanying figures for the line, and the year's worth of figures for 200X that we know about from leak listings? To not announce these toys when every aspect of production is DONE and the product is already showing up is just bizarre. I also imagine it's also not just going to be these two, unless they're retailer exclusives.

Feels super short-sighted to go on interviews at Toy Fair talking about how we might see stuff like this in the future, when that hypothetical product we're asking about has already crossed the ocean.

I'm just wondering if they're really going to restart a new non-movie detailed super-articulated line with Masterverse arguably not even quite done yet, or if this is really just how they're continuing Masterverse (given Scare-Glow's apparent size).

I’d guess any “New Eternia” type stuff is going into Chronicles, and Vintage will be the “continuation” of Masterverse, for however long that lasts.
