NECA - General Thread

I'd buy the Munsters if I knew for sure the five family members were guaranteed. I'm sure they can put a leather hat on Herman later and make a Dragula exclusive or something that will draw in both Munsters and Rob Zombie fans alike.

I'd collect the Muppets but there are just too many of them and they seem to relaunch under a different company every few years, so not sure I'm ready for another "musical chairs" line like the Jurassic Park Amber Collection.

I'm lightly considering the Fortnight Turtles but presently talking myself out of them. The Usagi Turtles are niche and cool in their own right, but I'm already trying to squash any interest I may have in them. As for DuckTales, I'm in mostly because Launchpad and GizmoDuck were features on DarkWing Duck, and it seems stupid not to have a decent looking Scrooge since I'll be missing one of Donald nephews. But my hope is that DarkWing gets picked up shortly after as the comments on NECA's social media seem to ring true for DW, so I'm not the only one there.

It's a shame Diamond Select wasn't able to do more with DWD, I doubt we'll get as much included if NECA picks it up, but it's better than nothing I suppose. I don't personally need TailSpin or Rescue Rangers though, since I assume RR would end up being out of scale anyway given their relative size.

I like plenty of stuff NECA does, I'm just not a fan of their more recent "anything goes" (including intimidation) business tactics they employ.

Looks like Entertainment Earth put up a round of new stuff (for them) for pre-order, including the Happy Death Day retro cloth figure. I know some folks were a bit worried it was canceled (and I suppose it could still be), but I guess that's promising!

In the past 25 years there have only been two main action figure lines, with really big gap in between. And the NECA line should be mostly compatible with Palisades in style and scale. Even if NECA drops the ball, you can backfill a lot of characters with Palisades, and I doubt we will ever have compatible Sesame Street and Fraggle Rock figures like this again. If you love Muppets, this is as good as it gets.

DW is my top want for this “Disney Afternoon” line, and I think we’ll get a deeper selection from NECA than we ever would from DST. Bankrupt or not, I don’t think DST was ever going to continue this line.

100% agree on NECA’s business practices, and I avoid their online store like the plague. I just try to ignore all of that and buy the toys I like, and they do make great toys.

I just want to see if NECA is crazy enough to give us a Bonkers action figure.
So Roger Rabbit storms into Eddie Valiant’s office and says to him “Eddie, what’s this I’ve been hearin’ about ya’s goin’ around town tellin’ everyone my Jessica has gone CRAZY?!”

Eddie grabs the rabbit by the shoulders and gives him a shake “I didn’t say she was crazy… I said SHE’S FUCKING BONKERS!”

Thank you! One of the two Bonkers jokes I will bring up every chance I get. The other is I have the show’s logo saved on my phone and when someone says “that’s Bonkers!” I say “NO! THIS IS BONKERS!” (Turns phone dramatically) I know! I’m a goddamn delight!

Anyway, if this really is a Disney Afternoon line and not just three packs and done, I hope they get to Bonkers eventually… but do they pack him with Lucky or Miranda?!

I asked a retailer recently, and was told that it indeed was cancelled due to poor sales. Which I don't get, but hey. They even issued refunds to those who pre-ordered. Sounds like EE is just late on the news, per usual.

Sheesh. That's a bit harsh. I get that you can probably tell pretty quickly how something's going to sell, but it was only up for pre-order for, what, a week or so? I'd be surprised if a lot of folks even knew it existed; they didn't really give much time for word to spread. I also feel like that's one of those "wait and see" kind of figures, where it may sit on the shelf for a bit, but eventually someone's gonna come along that either didn't know it existed or hadn't found it before or wanted it, but only on sale, etc. I feel like the retro cloth figures never really sell that well, at least near me, so I don't know why this was held to a higher standard. Ah, well. Shame.

So just a side note to the Friday the 13th: The Game stuff: I noticed a horror shirt company I follow, Gutter Garbs, is also using the "Friday the 13th: The Game" labeling on their new Jason shirts. So I guess that's just the trick going forward for movie-specific looks from the Paramount era. That game's going to have the longest accidental legacy.
