Muppets (including The Muppet Show, Sesame Street, Fraggle Rock)

Back in the day… Aliens and Predator waves were 3 or 4 characters. Now it’s one or so. Could be they are slowing down releases to match retailer demand. While we love Mr Johnson, retailers probably scratched their heads.

Even Super7 is going back to variants of Bert Ernie and the Count with an oddball character thrown in (typewriterman) after a wave of only 2 characters (Grover and Abbi)

Given the number of shown figures that have yet to be solicited, I'm not concerned about there not being any 'real' new NECA Sesame Street reveals at Toy Fair. It's tough to build hype for a figure that won't be coming out for another 2 years. I am also kind of happy Cookie Monster was not the unannounced figure because that means they are expecting the line to last long enough for him to be revealed later. Him and maybe Elmo are the only unshown characters that I would consider 'heavy hitters'. If he was coming out instead of Super Grover, I would be worried the line was wrapping up. With the Muppets line synergy, I have more confidence both lines are going to go strong for a while.

Yeah, I guess less concerned about the "nothing new" and more concerned they only showed the three heavy hitters coming up - Big Bird, Oscar and Grover. Oscar, it should be noted, is missing the elephant trunks they showed before (not surprising, they said that might not cost out).

While we love Mr Johnson, retailers probably scratched their heads.
That is my concern, that the more obscure characters are not getting retailer support. Hope I am wrong.

Standard Grover was displayed last year - alongside Mr Johnson - so I'm hoping he's still coming. Grover is my wife's favorite character in all of pop culture so I am very focused on that release. She wants it much more than she wants a Super Grover.

She has the Palisades Super Grover and they never released a regular Grover. Really hoping NECA gives a standard Grover figure.

Given we have gotten two heads with each character so far, not sure why Grover with a Super Grover head and accessories wouldn't be the plan. (Yes, I know why it wouldn't be, to try to sell two figures and maybe sculpt the SG logo on the body, but still...)

But I hope we get standard Grover as well. (I had that Super Grover but gave it away at some point, once it was clear Palisades wasn't going to survive to do more Sesame Street)

Also, I assume that they will reuse a lot of parts between Grover and Elmo.

Legs are shorter but the torso, arms and feet are very similar. I think Grover looks lankier because of the height difference, but not sure if I was NECA I would do a different torso. Maybe they will do different parts but I would be surprised?

I swear Trevor mentioned Super Grover was Haulathon in the video with Veebs, so normal Grover should still be coming.

I know he mentioned they were working on a bunch of other little pack in characters like the fruits and veggies, for the characters who don't generally have a fair share of iconic props.

Fruits and veggies were for the Muppets I think? Sesame Street will continue with the letters as the recurring pack in...

@fac The fact that they didn't have any of the other previous reveals is a bit concerning. Does NECA have a back area for retailers? If so, maybe they were there, along with any other new figures. Or maybe NECA didn't want to show figures that wouldn't be coming out until later 2027.

From what Trevor said in interviews, it seems to me like Oscar will be solicited in the summer and out next winter. Or, was he saying Oscar would be out shortly after Big Bird? There's another Haulathon in the fall, right? I guess Oscar could come out then. Either way, I'm curious how many figures will get released in 2026. It seems like only 3, but I could be misunderstanding things.

Maybe the new Muppet Show figures will take some of the release dates from Sesame Street? I have to think they will view the customer base to be mostly the same folks, so if they thought the market could only handle 6 to 8 "muppet" figures a year, the schedule may now be split between Muppet Show and Sesame Street, pushing some of the obscure characters down the road.

They said they've been working on Muppets for a long time, so I don't think they would suddenly be shifting schedules to accommodate. It sounded to me like they put such little product out last year because they ran into manufacturing issues (specifically mentioned for Oscar), and of course tariffs and everything else going on in the world likely had an impact. Hopefully they can ramp up Sesame Street this year and get that Muppets "wave" out by the end of the year like planned.

Their intention is for everything you saw over the weekend to come out by the end of the year. It might not work out that way, but that's the hope. Some of the stuff they showed at last year's event have yet to come out for various reasons. It's also not an all-encompassing display, there could be some surprises still to come this year.

Oh hell. Came to these late, but this all looks awesome. My Palisades set have been gathering dust on a shelf, but I was never tempted to swap out for DS. If these are compatible, I’m going to have to dip in. At minimum, Mahna Mahna and the Snowths are essential (I got as far as customising one Snowth, but that can go in the bin now).

Give me Bobo, Big Mean Carl, Lips (so I don’t have to sell a kidney on Ebay).

Add me to the ‘regretted losing the playsets’ crowd. Especially the Mayhem stage, which remains the worst trade I ever made (paid a small fortune to ship to the US, and the recipient publicly badmouthed me on a forum for the box being squashed, so I never got anything back either…)
