Mattel DC Figures

Hush Batman, Mora Robin, classic Joker and Flash, plus New 52 Superman with the action feature. Seems you’re on the money. 👍
Except that's not Hush Batman or Mora Robin. Hush Batman doesn't have a capsule belt or the Rebirth symbol (and Rebirth Batman has a different belt/color scheme), and Mora Robin doesn't have the Tim Drake R or an all-yellow belt.

These are figures based on the odd style guide DC has been using. In the 2010s, they were using an oval symbol Batman with a pouch belt, another combination of looks in the comics. I'd be sampling the line if they could choose an era and stay accurate to it. Todd had enough deviations from the source material. I don't need another line that dives into that concept head first.

I think all of the looks for the Core line are from an Earth in the Multiverse where Amanda Waller devoured the Earth and regurgitated it back up and everyone's powers switched from her Lazarus Pit stomach acid and all of the costumes from different eras got blended together.

Last night I was rummaging through a couple of my DCUC figure bins, and I was surprised to see a lot more figures are discolored than I had remembered. They're stored in a cool, dark area, so it's just time and age affecting the plastic I guess.

Pisses me off. I was hoping to avoid going in on the new Mattel line outside of Fourth World figures, but the cruel hand of crappy Mattel plastic and time may force my hand.

Not to bring politics into it but I could see a situation where they let go of the license early because of the tariff cost.

There’s no DC property on screen that would deiay a transition

Well there is the Lanterns show and the new Supergirl movie. So it’s somewhat plausible that they might delay figures out of an abundance of caution because of some character cameo or they may want to keep a few locked away because of a villain or two that hasn’t been revealed yet in either property. Also I can’t imagine Mattel capitalizing on this show on behalf of a kids line, but Penguin season 2 is technically on indefinite hold. If Mattel was contractually obligated to make figures from that show, it could be very up in the air as to when we might see more

Female led movies tend to get less merchandise anyways so I doubt they would hold back.

Plus it’s not like toy companies won’t just make up a random event to make a toy set. Supergirl, Comet, and Krypto vs random robot!

Fantastic! Oh look Robin is not out of scale with Batman who would figure. I'm grabbing this line and the future collector line. Edit, forgot to mention good reason why I don't open all my figures immediately upon receiving. I'm able to return around $300 worth of DC figures from McFarlane to EE. I will use that money in order to purchase Mattel DC figures.
EE takes back that much stock just on a whim?

That new52 Superman looks really fun, and quite good. I love they got the details down and the restraints are nice. So is the paint, and all for a low price. I know it's not Legends, but it's a good start, better than I'd think for a kids line.

Solid figures. With Joker including the Jokerized faceplates for the other characters, I'm wondering if there's an approach here where each wave for the core line is going to have a mini-storyline to it. Like, 3 heroes vs. 1 villain, with maybe the back of the package indicating the central plot of the wave so kids have a jumping-off point for their battle. Maybe something that could be scanned for a multimedia piece of it, like a few pages of a comic setting up the villain's scheme.

Could it be to help differentiate between the two line, the basics will lean a bit more to "modern" looks while the collector line will lean more towards "classic"?

Nah, they also showed off a more classic-looking Superman in the kids' line at ToyFair. I think that one's in the second wave of the core line while the New 52 look is on a deluxe SKU. They also showed off a couple of different Batman costumes, so I think they're just using a full range of existing designs rather than doing the Kenner-style Metallic Camo Purple Batman approach. Which I miss dearly.

I'm sorry, not really but that there is a Superman head sculpt. I can't wait to get this figure even though it in the kids line.
