Marvel Toys on Sale

Thanks @NORM for the heads-up.

Found Cardiac and just Cardiac for $12.49 today. Guess I'll have to haunt my stores to see if I can snag Hypno-Hustler and Owl for the same price.

I don't like being the "wait for clearance" collector with virtually everything -- I worry what it does to the health of the line -- but since gas cost me north of forty bucks today, it's regrettably necessary.

Collectors cried for him for years and we finally get him and he sells so poorly, he's already over half off. No wonder Hasbro gets gun-shy on unknown characters.

Honestly part of the problem is Target's policy of pure cases for characters... so some stores get Cardiacs but don't get Nightcrawlers. The Target I was in yesterday in Reno had 6 figures of the Owl marked down and no other characters. If the store only orders two cases they only get two characters... so they end up with several of those but none of the rest... Thats why I don't trust retail to buy waves of figures.

It doesn't mean Cardiac is a poor seller... it means the one store got too many Cardiac figures and probably not enough of most of the others.

But it seems like Cardiac is getting cleared out at a lot of Targets, not just where there’s surplus of him. Of the three figures in the wave present at my store, there were 8 Owls, 5 HHs, and the Cardiac. More of him might be gone since his price dropped for longer, but I’ve been frequenting this store for NECA Haulathon stuff, and I see this aisle often, and Cardiac was always the rare one. Which is why I was so surprised to see he was the only one being discounted til today.

Well, the last three Targets I've been in had NO Cardiac figures at all, so I still believe this distribution related. One had a surplus of the Owl, one had one Hypno Hustler and one had no figures from the wave. Meanwhile the Spider Venom figure is reduced to $20 at Wal Mart. So I don't think this impugns Cardiacs credibility as a figure choice.
