Man I can't believe I am actually considering getting rid of my 20th Anniversary Cap and Secret Wars Cap. I was messing around with them both and was thinking of taking one of them for my work desk today but I ultimately went with Gamerverse Cap. He just is so how I picture Cap body size wise and so poseable with the butterfly shoulders. I had not really touched the other two Caps since I got him. I need to find a loose Gamerverse one because I am afraid I'll wear this one out. First world problems......
They ended up giving us 2 "classic" Punisher releases with Walgreens the first retro card. Waiting years for another classic version with this new body is very odd strategy. Was seeing some love for the Amazing Friends 3 pack Spider-Man release yesterday on Instagram - I do have 2, but they really need to single card release that one. The Secret Wars Wave 2 would have been perfect. I guarantee it would have sold better than the symbiote patch version we're about to get.Following up on Enforcer's comments, it is odd that we're not seeing more classic "evergreen" figures for Marvel's popular characters. I'm honestly surprised by how long it finally took us to get a new sold-separately figure of Daredevil with the new Retro "Secret Wars" wave. Also, I'm still surprised that Hasbro didn't make classic versions for characters like Dracula and the green one-piece swimsuit look for Namorita for their recent "Marvel Legends" figures. I also hope Hasbro does circle back to make more new classic versions of Spider-Man villains into figures sooner than later. As cool as some of the recent Spider-Man figures have been, I'd love to see some more figures of classic Spidey foes back on shelves. While it's nice they re-released previous Retro Spider-Man figures of characters like Electro and the Green Goblin, I'd prefer to see new updated classic versions of characters like Doc Ock, Hobgoblin and Black Cat instead.
It really is. True hand candy. If I flip them it will be at a discount as I have taken a lot of the accessories from both of them and use them with Gamer Cap. Even took the shield set up from Marvel Select Cap for him to use. The scales are definitely cool but I don't need a Cap to have them.I flipped mine soon after and had no regret. I miss the scales but it's way more fun to play with.
All they need to do is bury the AF15 red/blue Spider-Man in a retro wave release or as a one off like the last Iceman and then release Maximum Spider-Man in brighter red and blue with a less stylized head and no web accessories at the random mid price-range (in Canada it's $41.99 - in the States I think it's $34.99) and they'd make so much money you could easily justify a niche character like Dr. Bong or Attuma or yes even Dracula in a wave later in the year. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Why the Hasbro team doesn't pitch either Spider-Man release with the caveat that if it sells exceptionally well they could price out 2 D-listers for that or the following year since the development cycle is apparently over a year.It is genuinely bizarre to me that a classic, red and blue costume Spider-Man isn't literally always available.
I'm waiting to replace my classic MAFEX comic figure. It's showing its age.Maximum Spider-Man in brighter red and blue
I still have mine, it's still standing on a random shelf away from Legends... it was great for the Pizza Spidey days... but now we have some truly good Spider-Men that match Legends aesthetic I find less and less reason to hold on to it.I'm waiting to replace my classic MAFEX comic figure. It's showing its age.
I felt like the Maximum releases were intended to be evergreen and always available or did I misunderstand?
That was what they suggested, but not sure why they would choose a much higher price-point and deluxe figure to be evergreen. Most of the time you want your evergreen to be the gateway product and you try to charge the minimum.I felt like the Maximum releases were intended to be evergreen and always available or did I misunderstand?
Not sure they'd be evergreen - per se. They're definitely classic and popular characters, albeit at a much higher price-point and consistently not in classic appearances. Each one has been more modern or artist specific. I don't even know if I would consider a Maximum release of classic Cap, Thor or Iron Man to be evergreen since the offering is meant to be deluxe with a focus on accessories.I felt like the Maximum releases were intended to be evergreen and always available or did I misunderstand?
I like the idea of a Classics line with just hands and maybe a head on that is basically 100% re-use. Spider-Man, Daredevil, Cap, Wolverine, Iron Man, Punisher, Elektra, Cyclops... all would be ready to go right now. That was what they suggested, but not sure why they would choose a much higher price-point and deluxe figure to be evergreen. What they need is a Marvel Legends Classics line that are straight re-releases with no extra gimmicks or accessories beyond maybe some extra hands and a weapon or two, smaller packaging, and price it under $25 - maybe even $20. And limit it to maybe 20 characters.
It seems like such low hanging fruit for them, a chance to get some easy sales and a chance to maybe get more folks to look at the main line. Some bad guys like Doom and Green Goblin, include Hulk, Thing, Thanos - larger but make them bare bones if needed. Thor, Deadpool, etc.I like the idea of a Classics line with just hands and maybe a head on that is basically 100% re-use.
