General Marvel Legends

I just received Grizzly too, and boy do I love him. I like him way more as Grizzly than as Ursa Major. Dude in an animal suit is such a classic, hilarious look for supervillains. I want to pair him with Rhino and Vulture and Frogman and White Rabbit and Razorback.

Odd, off-topic question, but I'm looking for suggestions and didn't know where else to put it- I want to kinda kitbash together a figure that wears a jacket with a hoodie under it (specifically Spiderman Homecoming Shocker), but I'm having trouble figuring out which parts to use, mainly in the upper body. I'm considering the Man Without Fear Daredevil torso/chest, since that's really the only figure I can find with a hoodie and the drawstrings in front, but I've noticed that he seems way more bulky than the average Legends- more so than the usual figure. So my questions are thus:

- Would his upper body even fit on the waist of another Legends, do you think? Or is he specifically made for that one waist piece?
- Same question as above, but regarding arms and head. I'd probably swap out the arms, or at least past the shoulder balljoint.
- Is the torso so big and bulky that a separate jacket piece wouldn't go over it? Unless the jacket itself is from a figure with a slightly wider chest too?
- Any suggestions on a headsculpt? I know it's not going to look like Bokeem Woodbine, since he's never had a figure made, but any that are similar in skin tone and lack of facial hair? Thought about taking a masked head that's similar and painting it yellow to make a not-screen-accurate version.

I've started to kinda look into GI Joe Classified and Valaverse; I don't collect either line, so I'm not familiar with the figures, but are there any that have a hoodie and are a bit closer to the standard body? I'm not entirely opposed to soft goods if need be, but I'd like to keep things plastic if I can, just for aesthetic's sake.

Thanks, all!

I think the upper hoodie would look terrible because the lower torso is also a bespoke piece to further develop the hoodie. It looks like it could fi, but poorly.

I'm looking at Punisher and Miguel, for reference.

The arms are standard. You could swap those.

I don't really know what what jacket pieces are even an offer for you to do it, but he is Broad and... At least for a Marvel Legends a little more barrel chested. I'm sure you could find one.

Grizz first appeared in ASM 139 working for The Jackal, and then Tarantula showed up a few issues later (ASM 147) also working for The Jackal. So I thought this group photo would be cool.

Maybe the retro carded Scarlet Spider? The drawstrings are a little exaggerated but might work

Appreciate the advice, you two! I'd considered the Scarlet Spider; not sure I entirely love the ripped sleeves- Shocker's jacket is more of a solid piece with a split at the arms, and the hoodie underneath. Worse comes to worse, of course, it's an option. I'm kinda surprised at the lack of plastic hoodies out there!

If Daredevil had worked out, I'd considered Han's jacket from TFA, since he's a little more broad-chested. I've seen a couple customs out there- one using parts from Han, and another from MCU Star Lord, with some Hoth Leia thrown in for the quilted look, but those were more of an MCU/comic mashup, not out of the film.

I'm also considering the Into the Spiderverse Miles, but I don't know if that jacket/hoodie combo would be too small on a normal figure, and the hoodie itself is open, versus being one piece. I'm probably definitely gonna have to compromise no matter what, or take a bunch of little pieces off a bunch of figures. If I was a skilled customizer, it wouldn't be an issue, but I'm still pretty new, and trying to keep things easy. The quest continues!

If it helps you, the drawstring/hood on daredevil is just an overlay. So you could move that anywhere you wanted to get the effect. It hangs there like the Wolverine unmasked effect.

Oh, sweet! I had no idea. That changes the whole game; you may have just saved me $30. 😅 I'll keep an eye out for the fodder piece loose. Doubt it'll be sold too often, but you never know!

There is a peg on his upper back and a notch in the hood that keeps it flush, but that shouldn't affect anything for your purposes.

Had a few Target preorders ship this week in which I was over-informed about it (emails, app messages, etc etc etc) and then I just got a single message that Emma shipped today. Seems unceremonious for the queen herself to not get the same fanfare Usagi Yojimbo got.

Got my Grizzly and man, I'm loving him, too! Like others said, he's a great classic villain with an admitted goofy look if you think too hard about it. One thing I really love is with the piles of gold, each brick has the gold stamping on it. They aren't just generic plain gold bricks. It's kinda simple, but it add a lot to their appearance. And the sculpting, texture, an wrinkles on the burlap bank bag is stupendous. If you didn't know it was plastic, you'd think it was real in miniature form.

Oh, did anyone else find it kinda odd he came packaged with the Grizzly (human) head but Ursa Major hands?

@TFitz yeah, I’m not gonna use any Ursa Major parts for this guy. I have him already. Grizzly gonna be Grizzly. With that human face sticking out of the mouth as if Ursa Major ate him feet first, and those bear paw shaped mittens. God, I love this figure.
