G.I. Joe Classified Series: The Chatty Pointless Thread & Performance Art

It's not even like a "I'm mad there's not enough females" it's just a genuine wanting of variety. And I think it's important to make new molds every year for reuse...every year that slacks on new parts means less of that next year.
No, I definitely get that. Although I would argue that 'too few females' does not directly correlate with 'not enough new parts.' I'd have to double check the actual 2025 release list, but I'm pretty sure we got a pretty broad selection of new stuff this year. Someone smarter than me about that stuff can confirm or deny.

Yeah and I have to count any new tooling on CLAW Pilot and Haslab Baroness since they could easily be reused. We certainly have a lot of new parts this year, it's been a great year for new parts, just not a lot of new parts for female figures is my point.

Related, it's crazy that Jinx has these wonderful female arms from last year and they still haven't been reused. Really wanting them to make some cool commando chicks, more girls like Shooter.

@Damien
Nah, I totally get your point. I don't expect 50/50, though if they did that...they'd probably burn through every female characters in just 3-4 years at most! Heh. But somewhere between 1/2 and 1/12. How about two for every three wave of five?

@vicious to clarify, the 39 numbered release figures (#146-185) includes Pythona, Baroness, and the Claw pilot, along with any other vehicle people or sets that are numbered. Shit, actually, that also counts some of the sets as ONE, like Beachhead/Quick Kick share one number. So my "they did 39" is already wrong. They issued 39 numbers, but some of those had multiple figures under them.
Yeah and I have to count any new tooling on CLAW Pilot
Which... There probably was some, but I think she used a lot of parts from the Valkyries and anniversary Marine Sniper.
more girls like Shooter
Yes! And Helix. Those characters... As much as I want the old favorites, I really like those and Wolf Spider etc too. I'm hungry for all of it really! Use all my veins.

That reminds me... I would really like a classic Jinx. But that would require a new upper torso and new arms. I don't think there's anything in the current library that would work.

I'm still surprised they didn't rework the body from the snake eyes movie they used for Vypra. Maybe with a new chest inlay?

Also, to amend my numbers, which may not be totally correct, but with sets like Cold Slither, Short Fuse, Mercer, etc, count 48 individual figures, plus two legacy and 8 retro, so 58 figures this year. If anyone has better numbers, please post.

Wolf Spider, Big Ben, and Shooter are such cool releases that don't get enough (public) love.

As for ratios, I kind of prefer a setup where there's maybe 1 female in a squad of 4 people (like my Night Force Beta squad of the three aforementioned figures and NF Shockwave). 1 in 6 is fine, too. Even if it were 1 female out of every 10 males, that would be decent. 1 female per 10 figures actually sounds great to me. Just...don't keep cramming them into premium packs. $28 or whatever MSRP is nowadays is premium enough of a price to pay.

If they don't care about his height, why care about his gender?
People care about nostalgia. Mainframe is a dude, so they want the figure to be of a dude. I imagine most decent people that are Joe fans don't care if they introduce a bunch of new female characters, but I'd also imagine many of those same people do not really want gender-swapped characters just for the sake of it. It's forced and, actually, kind of stupid. Just make a new character. Like Helix. Helix is a cool fucking character. I just hate her costume so I'm still hoping someday someone redesigns her to not suck.

I've had similar thoughts, like how they did a female dial tone, and technically three versions of her over the years. Ultimately though, there are some really cool, original, non-legacy female characters I am anxious to have on the shelf, and some of them aren't even ninjas at all!

Yeah I was rambling and immediately realized the can of worms i was haphazardly opening and deleted all of that. lol!

Sorry! You must have deleted it while I was already typing. Didn't mean to stir any pots.

I'm the one stirring the pot because I'm procrastinating things I should do talking about toys with you fine folk. Even if I wanted to be productive with toys and, say, take pictures of my favorite Joes of the year with all the gear swaps I've done, I'm too lazy, would rather talk about pie in the sky.

Oh shit did I fall right into the self-targeting maneuver?

C'mon Chooch! You say "it is massive" and didn't follow up with a dick joke? This thread is becoming a pale reflection of its former self!

It was a setup! And I must say, shame on @Ru1977 for failing in his duties. You try to tee things up for people...

I don't think Baroness is considered quite that important, to be perfectly honest. In fact, I'd argue that Scarlett is the only female character in the entirety of the franchise that Hasbro would put on the 'main character' list.

I declare shenanigans. Look at the merch, the cosplay, and the many, many variant covers. Baroness not only outranks Scarlett in main character energy she's probably in the top 5 of the franchise. Admittedly, a decent portion of that is because many young boys' sexual awakenings were tied to the sexy-evil-librarian-with-vague-accent vibe, but she puts butts in seats.

I will co-sign on the declaration of Shenanigans. Easily top 5. Her imagery was pretty front and center when Classified launched, front cover the Rise of Cobra poster (mostly her butt), was one of the only OG Cobra Villians in the comics for a good while when CoCo was "dead" and Destro F'd off to wherever he went.
