MAFEX Marvel Figures

I dunno, I’m just glad they didn’t actually release like eight figures in November and December.

I will never understand why producing action figures within a reasonable time frame is so much more difficult for Medicom than it is for any of their competitors.

Rogue has been especially frustrating.
It’s really annoying when they just push it out a month or two. We all know how long it takes to manufacture and then ship a figure from a factory. If a company says a release is only a month or two out then that should mean production is underway, but clearly that hasn’t happened here.

While it's frustrating, the thing I try and bear in mind is that we are *not* talking about some huge corp here, they're not Bandai or Hasbro. Their bread and butter are the silly bear things, the Mafex line is more a niche sideline. Plus after all the vocal complaints over the years that they're leaving money on the table and begging them to reissue figures, with folks rejoicing when some lame knock off merchants rip of their work, being mad that they then switch focus for a bit to provide reissues of some of their most popular figures feels pretty disingenuous.

They are a weird little firm running at their own pace, and they're paying the price now in the lack of up front pre-orders I imagine. I only order when they're actually already out there now.

All the dopes riding InArt and LPZZ's dicks as the new hotness are in for a surprise when it turns out it takes those guys a while to get their stuff to shelves too. So far InArt's got 1 TDK figure with another due almost a year away, and as more figures hit the schedule, it wouldn't surprise me to see their wait times creep up too.

I hope you’re not accusing me here because I’ve never purchased a single figure from CT or Mess toys, nor have I ever been gifted one from someone in the collecting space. I abhor bootlegs and I will usually go out of my way to discourage people from buying these figures wherever and whenever I can because it hurts actual toy companies and prevents them making the figures that people want with all of the backing of the license holders and not to mention they are made with higher quality materials that are codified under industry regulations and standards, which is critical when it comes to manufacturing.

Seriously. We won't see those classic DC comic figures until 2027 or 2028.

So I pick up Mafex VERY rarely. I have the original comic Spider-Man, the CT Toys knock off of brown Wolverine (that’s based on Mafex, right?) and on a recent whim, I grabbed Captain America from BBTS when it was a deal of the day. Nice enough figure, but the stripes of his uniform are stupid. Not because they’re skinny, but because they’re not centered. Most of the time, it’s one red stripe below the chest star. On this guy, it’s one red, one white, and where they meet, that line is centered with the star. It bothers me so much. I’m sure there’s precedent to this in comics, so maybe someone can enlighten me? Because as is, I find it a careless mistake that keeps this figure from being perfect.

No worries. I remember as a pre-teen wondering if Cap had 13 alternating stripes (for the original colonies) while I was trying to draw him. Had honestly never noticed the centered red stripe. I must be slipping.....

Jack Kirby. Maybe others that era. If you take a ruler to most of his covers, the stripes meet to "split" the star.

I understand where you're coming from though because... I can't remember which figure it was, the 20th? The center stripe was the wrong color for what I always envisioned. And it really curbed my enjoyment.

It could have happened here. Sometimes the issue might be that the produced units are consistently failing QA forcing them to re-think the engineering design. And as stated my guess would also be the jacket is having issues.

The thinner stripes are definitely based on the Silver and Bronze Age age era of Captain America but this particular figure is based on John Buscema’s run on the character from the 70’s

Does that tie it together with their Thor and Iron Man Style or Era wise? I'm not really versed in those eras.

Secret Wars Cap has the stripes inverted. White in the center. It would otherwise be my default Cap!
