General Marvel Legends

I'm at I think 21 ML this year, counting the 97 sentinel and a couple I picked up that were actually released last year that I just finally grabbed. That's probably my most intense year of collecting the line yet, but also I can't imagine doing another year like this anytime soon. I suppose we'll see next year. So far the only ones I've got on tap for 2026 are 2099 Spidey (which is a replacement, not an addition, I've already sold my old one) and the alt color arcade sentinels.

And yeah, that doesn't include other lines like Classified, Monster Force or Black series, which didn't get as much money out of me, but didn't get none either. Clearly ML is the bulk of my collecting by a wide margin.
 
Looks like I'll be at 76 figures for the year when my next shipment arrives and assuming I pick up Mystique. I swear the bulk of those are in the last month though.
 
Thankfully, sticking almost primarily to movie/show Legends, I was able to keep things relatively low this year. Think I'm at 33 individual figures, 29 or 30 if we're counting 2 packs as 1. Guess you can add 1 more if we're including Apocalypse, but I'm counting him as 2026.

47 purchases, 59 figures, in descending order from most recent to oldest going back to the beginning of the year. I started pulling back in July as our finances started to change and stopped all preorders and most purchases a few months later, so this is basically everything for this year except the '97 Sentinel. There's a lot more that would be on this list for 2025 if I hadn't put a freeze on spending.

I started tracking my total spending in detail in 2022 because I felt I wasn't being honest with myself on how much I was actually buying. Here are the headline numbers. This includes all lines I collected in these years - primarily ML, Joe Classified, Mafex, and others; plus all other things related to the hobby - 3rd party accessories, display cabinets, memberships/subscriptions, etc:
  • 2025 - $2,634.60
  • 2024 - $6,154.25
  • 2023 - $6,213.37
  • 2022 - $5,465.36
I was already on track to spend less in 2025 before things got tight, but it was definitely accelerated by changing circumstances. I basically cut out all other lines besides ML this year.

Restraint is easier, I find, in TOTAL seriousness, if mixed with a healthy dose of rage. Few lines can annoy me as much as Marvel Legends. I love AOA, but I won't fully collect an AOA line without Cyke, and I won't buy a Cyke on that trash body. So that stopped me from buying ANY AOA figures beyond Weapon X.
Hasbro refuses to make a -matching- '90s X-Force team, so I've refused to buy any X-Force figures besides Shatterstar.
Too Big Wolverine? Too Bad, No-verine.
Retro-card figures? Guess I don't need them if you're going to say they need to be five bucks more because of the cardback they're on.

The only things that took any real restraint was Punisher stuff and not going hard on the '97 X-Men stuff. Those I keep waffling on a lot. I did get Cable and Logan, and I honestly maybe think I regret even getting Logan.

Nope, that’s not true: I don’t do those things because my brain absolutely revolts and will. not. do. it. This is where the ADHD totally overrules the ASD, and yet the ASD is upset by it all the same.

Sigh. I embraced the fact that I am a chaos gremlin long ago.

AuDHD me is over here with seven different half-started lists of my collections and household spending. I'll do them properly one day. Promise!
 
Hoo boy, I have acquired 225 toys this year, 44 of which are Marvel Legends. Not counting what's in my pile of loot since I'm not shipping it til January and I don't count toys as acquired until they are in my grubby little paws. That's a hell of a lot of plastic, but luckily I'm not planning on getting any more this year.

I usually only get toys for Christmas from my brother as he is more aware of what I don't already have and what I really need but can't bring myself to buy on the secondary. In past years he's got me the Alpha Flight box set, Retro Carded Punisher and brown suit Wolverine and Vulture, as a few examples of how cool of a brother he is. This year though we decided to not get each other any gifts and instead will be pooling our dough to get a Switch 2 and some games. So barring any surprise toy gifts from other family members, 225 should be it for 2025. Hoping to have 2026 be significantly less considering I already own over 2,500 toys.
