General Marvel Legends

As expected my target has a peg full of diamond Emma exclusives so… preorder not required.

Yup, and if it's like Savage Land Chuck and X-Factor Jean then they'll be clearanced out for like $7.49 each in a few weeks. That didn't work with Storm or Weapon X though. They both legitimately sold out at full price at my stores. More popular characters in general, I guess. I expect Diamond Emma to be more like the first 2, though.

Prior to The Fwoosh, I was on this one forum action-figure.com or something like that. They used to do articles and they actually got me a press pass to the Toronto Toy Convention whatever year it was... no one had seen what Doctor Octopus would look like in Spider-Man 2, but they had the figure on display which I took sneaky pictures of for the owner of the site. We couldn't do much with them but it was cool to have insider knowledge for a few weeks before it was fully released.

I bought Grizzly on a whim - not a character I love, but I really loved the Ursa Major BAF and thought it'd be fun to have this guy too. Took me a solid like, two weeks to open him, too, been sitting next to my desk for days. But holy crap I did not realize how much NICER this figure is than the BAF. I kinda hope he goes on discount because the figure is so nice I would legit display BOTH characters. This is ABSOLUTELY an upgrade to Ursa Major, a character I love and DO want on display, but also rad enough to get me to invest in an extra one for Grizzly himself. Like... I do NOT want to blow 80 dollars on a pair of this figure but if they even discount him by 10 bucks I'd be tempted to get an extra.

Do I preemptively sell a few figures in hopes for updated versions? Like Beast and Colossus?
There's a few figures I got so I would have a version of the character in my collection even if it isn't based on the 90s animated series like Mandarin for example.
Never sell a figure unless it falls in the "I'm okay if I never hold this figure again" category. Half the time I end up using other lesser figures to make the newer figure better. As in the case of all these Gambits we've been getting to make a hodgepodge "ultimate" 90s Gambit because they're never going to give you a perfect version of him. Plus if it's even a character you mildly like just stick them on another shelf until you decide what to do with them. Core X-Men I never sell unless it's something like a costume or an era that does nothing for me, like Krakoa.

Anyone else ever had the situation where you know your had a certain figure... and your trying to find it in your display... and when you dont find it right off you think damn... did I get rid of it??? then you decide to go and buy it again (at a premium price) only to find it afterwards either in the display or in a box?

Absolutely. It's happened with trade paperbacks a couple times as well. *sigh*

Sadly, as a collector of various media this has happened in almost every area (but most recently with a figure a couple months ago)--not that I thought I got rid of an item, but just totally forgot I bought it in the first place. The only place this hasn't happened (yet) is with books, though, I did almost re-buy the What If... Into the Multiverse v2 omni recently.

I've never had that happen. How many figures do you guys own? I've got like 350 and I've never lost track of one. Comics? Yes. with 20,000 books and thousands of trades it happens all the time. Action figures? No.

I've done it. I am 53, been collecting a long time. Sometimes if I am out hunting, I will call my son and ask do we have this? before I buy it. LOL

a-f.com's owner is the originator of "froosh lomos"
Okay, I'm at a loss here; what is this? I understand lomos is Spanish for loins but, um...

How so? I've abstained from ordering him and don't plan to do so, but I'm genuinely curious how they managed to improve the figure. I thought it was exactly the same as the BaF aside from the headsculpts and color? Btw, I really like the newer bear head over the original, but not enough to drop $40.

Oof, I have. Mostly with figures that I either didn't have room for in the display or took off the shelf and put away for whatever reason. Happened a lot with movies as well at the secondhand store we have here. I'd forget about it, see said figure in the wild and go "Oh, I wanted that one" and get it. Only happened a few times, but it was embarrassing every time. Part ADHD, part me just being a goober. It's really the only time that "make a list" has ever helped me- I now have a log of everything I own so I can reference it if I ever need to. Well, most of the time. Sometimes I forget I made the list. 😅

I have only one thing to say to that:

The plastic feels sturdier, the fur is cast in a sharper, more eye-catching way (the other one is so flat and glossy), the head sculpt is a LOT better with the hinged jaw so he's not perma-screaming. Like part of me ordered the new one because the old one feels like the hips were going to snap and break at some point and I didn't want to be without and Ursa but this one just feels like better material top to bottom. I'll need to do some test poses because I don't think it's REALLY more posable than the original, but just the quality of the parts used is a noticeable improvement.

Discogs and CLZ Comics certainly helped the double buying in those areas. Took me like 3 years to enter my record collection into Discogs. I still make mistakes with CLZ but they are definitely less.
