U.S. Politics

Epstein victim at a press conference earlier:

“Today we stand in a moment that will decide whether our government belongs to the American people, or to those who prey on them.”

I think we know the answer, but we’ll have confirmation soon.

^^^ that quote is so right about the guy who voted against it

he loves people who kill journalists

well there goes all that money "saved" by DOGE

So we’re all mostly resigned to the Epstein files release amounting to nothing, right? That bill the house and senate passed is pretty toothless, and even if the justice department blows it off, there’s really no mechanism for enforcement. The justice department would have to prosecute itself. They’ll probably release some stuff that doesn’t incriminate Trump and then he’ll take a victory lap. We need a whistleblower to basically blow the lid off the thing.

You don't have to embarrass the murderer I've invited into the seat of your country's government, guys. C'mon.

That was the lighter comment. He went for the throat on the next reporter shortly after.

And no, I haven't expected anything to come out of the Epstein files since this whole uproar. We already know.

They get away with financial crime and murder on the regular. The only way to fix any of this is to go in with bare hands.

I mean, we've had the victims' stories for years. If it really mattered the country would've done something when they spoke out.

Also, no matter who else is in the files, we know people won't abandon Trump. This is worst than "I could shoot a man on 5th Avenue." This was "I could rape a child and people would still."

Oh, the Onion. It's been the only way I can stomach some of the news this past decade or so, even if the line between satire and reality is constantly narrowing.

Yep. Trump wants to get the monkey off his back, and he thinks this will do it.
We need a whistleblower to basically blow the lid off the thing.
That's been our only hope from the jump, I think. As we've learned, people in positions of power have no courage.

On the positive side, if this sticks, we're going to see a historic blowout:

Is 55 to 41 a blowout? We always see headlines like "mandate" and "overwhelming" at that kind of margin and while it's uncommon, I think of a blowout more like 80/20. Not sure that's ever happened in a US election.
