Toys, Tunes and Beer

Happy Halloween from Toys, Tunes and Beer! I’ve been saving this figure for tonight. So. Much. Stuff. This is really a figure you need more than one of…while I’ll only own one. All the add ons are great. The snake head is my favorite. The hands are interesting and look great with either head. The figure is based on the Retro Viper figure, which I own two of but haven’t opened. I dig the non Viper head, and will display it with it. I’m glad the green matches Crystal Ball…and now that I say that maybe I will get another of this guy. Fidens constantly pumps out some of the best beers. Excelsior is no exception. Like the figure has accessories, this has so many hops and the bulk of them are from New Zealand!! Great stone fruit and citrus and that typical Fidens taste you’ve come to expect and love. You’d be surprised to hear @Ghostbusters is my favorite movie of all time. We watched it tonight with my daughter. She loved it. The soundtrack is more than the theme song played over and over. Songs like “Cleanin’ Up the Town” and “Magic” are two that you know better than you think you do. I hope everyone had a great Spooky Season. Time to move onto Feed your Face season!

Overall ratings. Figure 4.5:5. Beer 4.5:5. Album 4.75:5.

It’s only been a day and you’re getting another Toys, Tunes and Beer. How about that. I’ve had the @GI Joe Legacy Police Officer for some time now. I had more preordered but ended up only wanting one. That’s not to say he isn’t a good figure. I do really enjoy it. Lots of accessories for you plenty of options to display. I thought the riot shield was from Shockwave at first, but it’s all new and reminds me of the one we got with the Cobra Shocktrooper in the POC line. Maybe it’s a hint? I may not display him on my regular Joe shelf, but he will be displayed with the Legacy Firefighter somewhere. Yay more Fidens…said none of you. This one is Jasper with Peacharine and Peach. All the peach! You certainly get the peach from it. It’s almost artificial. Super sweet at the end, with a little bitterness. I love @Green Day and what they did for my love of punk music. I love “Dookie” but have always felt “Insomniac” is the better album. A 32 minute run time flies by, but you don’t miss anything. Everyone knows the big songs, but songs like “86” and. “Stuart and the Ave” stand out just as much. I can still remember when this album was coming out, it was the biggest hype of the time. When it dropped it wasn’t as loved as “Dookie”. I did and do still love it.

Overall ratings. Figure 4.5:5. Beer 4.75:5. Album 5:5.

Irishman, you're ten posts away from 5000.

A truly historic occasion that must be commemorated with a beer. 🍺

(Or, as we liked to call it in the Navy, any fucking excuse to have a beer.)

Hi there. It’s been a while. I’ve been under the weather. Here we are though, Toys, Tunes and Beer. You’ll notice I’m not at my regular display area. This is because we’ve done some rearranging to get our Christmas tree up. Don’t @ me about it. The world is burning. Let me fa-la-la-la-la as much as I want. I recently received a large BBTS order and have quite a few Operation Monster Force figures in it. I opened a Phantom Corps figure first. It’s a standard soldier character, that is pretty much a repaint of the Van Helsing figure. I love the camo pattern, and masked heads. It has so many hand options. I’m a sucker for a thumbs up hand. The articulation is pretty standard these days. Same as your average GI Joe including drop down hips. I’m glad I got a couple of him. No Couth from Fidens is a great regular IPA, made with all Galaxy hops. Gives it an earthy, bitter taste, but has some tropical flavor as well. I am a huge fan of Fidens, but this one is ‘ok’ at best. I have another shipment of their stuff coming so get ready for that. I’ll admit, when I first bought this Suicide Machines CD I got it for one song, “No Face.” When I played it though, I couldn’t turn it off. The opening drums of “New Girl” come in hard and loud, and it doesn’t let up until the album ends. This is a no miss album for me. I love everything on this album, but one of my favorites is their cover of “I Don’t Wanna Hear It” from Minor Threat. Such great guitar work, and catchy riffs have me coming back time after time to this. For the record, this is the second most expensive album I’ve bought, behind The Amazing Royal Crowns album.

Overall ratings. Figure 4.5:5. Beer 4:5. Album 25:5 (seriously, this album rips).

I still haven't ordered one but he's the MF figure that tempts me the most.

That record looks like candy. Did you bite it to make sure?

We’re back for a midweek episode of Toys, Tunes and Beer. I’ve restocked my fridge so we’re back in business! Tonight we have a sorta theme. We start off theme though. @GI Joe Monkey Wrench is one of the few Drednoks I had as a kid. Honestly they were never my thing. This is a great modern version of him. It stays true to his ARAH version, but with some great updates (including that very Kabal looking mask). I’ve heard so many horror stories about Buzzers glasses, and while these are still a pain, they seem to stay on better at least. I really hope we get a Thrasher and Thunder-Machine in the future. Fidens is a brewery from Albany NY and they make some of the best beers around right now. This A Quadruple Dry Hopped Necessary Means, an IPA. This is a lower ABV beer (6.2%), and it drinks like it’s much higher. Soft, tropical, a little citrus. Pretty hoppy overall (citra and mosaic), and easy to drink. There will be plenty of Fidens in the near future so get ready. Once again, I know the irony here. @OneKingDown One King Down is (was?) a Straight Edge Hardcore band from Albany NY (see! Theme!). This album means a lot to me. It brings back so many memories of seeing shows with my best friend @crispykid Chris in Albany at Valentines (RIP), QE2(RIP), and Northern Lights. One King Down was one band we saw more than a few times. Straight brutal guitars, and the vocals by Jon Peters come together and will melt your face off. The shows they’d put on were always the craziest due to them being the local favorites. Stage piles were common every song. Stage diving, brutal pits, and some of the best sing-a-long verses I can remember. When you left, you were beaten and bruised, and that’s how you knew you had a good time. The next day if you didn’t ache you didn’t go hard enough. Thinking back to those days makes my body hurt. That being said, they were some of the best days of my life. A great scene. Great music. My best friend.

Overall ratings. Figure 4.25:5. Beer 4:5. Album 5:5. Memories….priceless.
