Star Wars Black Series

I'm getting ready to rearrange my Star Wars display. First I have to put the fishing line protector on the top shelf to protect shelf dives onto a concrete floot, but then most of the stuff on the bottom shelf goes to the top, along with the droid figures if there's enough room. Second shelf will be all troopers. Bottom shelf will be odds and ends and maybe I'll display the modern figures I have, though that's not many. I don't even care much for the modern troopers designs.

Man, those Episode I figures all look great together Boy Wonder. But all your displays look really cool.

Episode I is seriously my favorite Star Wars movie. I'm willing to admit other Star Wars movies may be better, but Episode I just means the world to me. I love the characters, the music, the era, the planets, and just everything you see from the crazily dressed Senators in their blues and purples, to the aliens and droids. Peak Star Wars for me. I just feel all the nostalgia and love you could feel every time I watch it.

And besides Maul Shadow Lord, EP I is what I will watch today to celebrate May 4th.
Yeah, it's something that I can appreciate the good and bad with as time has gone on. I was 10 when it came out and I don't think the hype for that movie ever got matched by anything since. Star Wars or otherwise. Maybe Endgame is the closest. But merch for Phantom Menace was just EVERYWHERE back then, it's just become such a unique vibe. I went and got Taco Bell for lunch to being home and watch the movie while opening my stuff.

I started the morning with Maul (solid landing, can't wait for the next season), then started Last Command after finishing Dark Force Rising yesterday. Then TPM around noon, and just kicked on A New Hope now.

Picked up the newish Chewbacca this afternoon as well after using a bunch of GameStop rewards to get him for $15.

I found a Mando and grogu deluxe at target today, and with the sale it was only $25 or so. I was waiting for a sale, and this is a great one. Also found the same figure in Pop bubble head form but it was at wal mart. No discount, fuck you wal mart. Guess I will have to wait for the inevitable restock on the Target troopers and hope to get those on sale later too.

Missed out on Doom and Thorn (fucking Target). Ordered Satele though. I never played any of those games, but a Jedi figure is a Jedi figure. Tempted by those troopers, especially the commando.

Snagged the Warlord last night, and Doom and Thorn this afternoon; glad Target still had their sale going- makes it easier to swallow. Didn't end up getting the AOTC wave from Amazon like I was supposed to, but I'll live.

Snagged all the others from Amazon; better to have an order locked in than regret it later. Some fun stuff on ShopDisney, but nothing I really needed, especially for the price. Was a relatively easy, lowkey May the 4th, but I'm here for it.

Maul show definitely amped up story and visuals. May pick up more than just Inquisitor.

Surprised to order the figs on Target on this sale. Nice surprise. Seeing all this Star Wars merch at very reasonable pricing is nostalgic.

Thwipp!

One last arrival for my May the Fourth spending spree. Managed to grab one off eBay for $70 shipped after tax. Had been in town since Saturday night and was supposed to arrive on Monday, but USPS decided to let it just sit there for an extra day.

Pretty happy with all of these. Luuke's such a unique character to have a figure of and I never got any of the updated Lukes until now. I was still rocking with a combination of several figures, mostly Endor Luke. Really wish he had the alternate shirt piece though. And that Luuke wasn't victim to that weird period when they felt like bringing back 45° hips.

I'm part way finished with Last Command right now. Took me about a month to finish Heir to the Empire, but blasted through Dark Force Rising in about a week. Do I enjoy reading now?

Luuke has me wondering how many times we've gotten Anakin's lightsaber. Between every Luke, Anakin, and Rey they've made, there has to be so many of them.

Got the AOTC wave in last night. Haven't had a chance to open it yet, but even in package, they look pretty fantastic. The Geonosian feels almost too good to be true- a 100% new figure with a newly sculpted weapon and a second pair of wings?! I guess the entire wave is completely new, really. Even in other waves where we get new characters, there's still some substantial part re-use.

Taun We just makes me happy to look at. She's become one of those "inside joke" characters between my boyfriend and I. Nobody else will ever understand why we like her (I don't even know if we do), but it's so cool to have her in the Black Series. I really hope they utilize some of these parts again to get us characters like Lama Su, Poggle the Lesser, and so on.

Also, what's the general consensus on Watto's chance cube? Because I know that, whether a fault of my own or cat shenanigans, I'm gonna lose the thing. Are we gluing it into his hand? Sticky tack? Gluing it on his belt? Or just forgoing it altogether?

I immediately stuck the chance cube into a snack sized ziplock (it's how I store most accessories) with his spare wings. I love that they included it, but there is not a snowball's chance in hell I'll ever put it on a shelf. That fucker is gone the first time the cats even glance at it.

Talking with a friend about the Maul season and he's thinking we'll never get the rest of the cast, but I kinda think: Lawson, Daki, Two-Boots, and maybe Marrok re-release or some version of Spybot as a four-person wave would be perfect? Maul's like the opposite of Andor in terms of being toy-worthy - I'd buy every single character from Andor but I can see why they don't think Kino Loy will sell, but everybody in Maul is wonderfully action-figure-friendly. Also Spybot could make use of one of the new flight stands like they shipped with the geonosian and Watto.

Oh yeah, I can easily see them selling. Any saber wielder is at least a somewhat safe bet, so I think Daki is golden. Spybot is tricky; I don't think he'd ever be his own release, but either a pack-in with a smaller figure, or part of a 2 or 3 pack. Honestly, I can see them maybe releasing one or both of the other Zabrak dudes he had, either as a multipack or on their own, since I'd imagine there's some easy part reuse there. Can always put Spybot in with them. I'd say with Daki, but he'd probably be a bit bulky, and if Bazil was a single release, Daki would be too. Not always, but droids are usually a fairly safe bet as well, especially new molds.

Ironically, I'd say the toughest sell would probably be Lawson, since he's kinda just a regular dude. But there also seems to be enough love for the character that I think he wouldn't pegwarm too much.

Yeah, Daki's short but thicc, I think he could warrant a full figure. He's probably more plastic than Devon, really. A three pack with Spybot and the Zabrak brothers would be cool but I wonder if it'd sell (it'd sell to ME so I want it though).

Lawson is the plainest of Janes of the remaining characters, but the producers love the voice actor and love the character, so maybe Disney would push for him.

I'd love Rheena, too, but that's a LOOOOONG shot. Also that super asshole imperial officer from earlier on in the season felt like he was going to be a bigger deal so I wonder if he's like Rampart from Bad Batch.

I really do hope there's at least a little Spybot merch push later this year. I need plushes, RC bots, I need t-shirts that say "Booshkeedoo!" Grogu who?

For like a split second, I was thinking "ah, they'll just rebuild him in season 2", and then he fell into a lake of fuckin' acid. I suppose they could have a backup of him somewhere; IG-11 stepped into a river of lava and then blew up and he was brought back, so you never know. There's no power greater than being a fan favorite.
