Quitting/putting collecting on pause

This round eBay didn't seem to comprehend that I'm selling 5 figures in a lot and thinks I'm overcharging which I think is why it won't give me the option to not take Best Offers. I immediately got someone with a lowball for the BAF. Try as I might I can't change it and I'm wondering if it's undercharging on shipping.

Edit: actually found a way to turn it off. Their UI appears to have updated since I last posted.

I confirmed my booth for a local toy show in June tonight, so now I have a set deadline to sort stuff and get an Excel spreadsheet in Google docx set up, and determine prices on it all.

Yep that will light a fire under your butt. I have done a lot more sorting and organizing in the past two weeks in preparation for the toy show I am selling at on Sunday.

It also made me realize how much stuff I have and how much of it I am okay with selling. So I'll be selling more stuff after the show as well.

Ajax?

Yep. Making the drive from Ottawa just because I was motivated and it was easier to get a table there than at one of the few shows here in Ottawa.

Plus I am meeting up with some buddies after for dinner so that works out. Where I am located in Ottawa and going to Ajax rather than across the city to Mississauga is okay. Should be about a 3 hour drive, and then another 3 hours back.

I just want to note that it's almost May, and I am about to be deluged in Supergirl merch, have a new Jessica Jones on the timeline, that entire DPWolvie wave delights me, and the McF close out rush is hitting my specific era of DC nostalgia/interest. Oh yeah, and just got a new Casino Bunny Girl weeb bait figure.

Even scaling back, it's a good year to be me and still like toys.

For those of you who are not Transformers collectors, here is my post from the TF board describing my time at today's comic & toy show rebuying Transformers I sold a few years back:

"I went to a small comic/toy show today and rebought Kingdom Cyclonous for $22. Not sure if that means I don't need this new Cyclonous. Also rebought SS86 Ironhide and Ratchet for $24 each. Went back and bought Buzzworthy Bee Cliffjumper, who I believe is a re-box of the CJ I had once before?"

That's only happened to me a handful of times. Usually, if I go through the trouble of convincing myself not to like something enough to sell it, I'm good on it, but I've certainly regretted selling a couple things over the years and bought them back. One time was even the exact figure I sold- sold it to a friend of mine, who had to sell it a couple years later, and I just bought it back from him.

I just purged 60+ figures from my collection...Marvel Legends, Star Wars Black Series, & DC McFarlane.

Some are going to be sold, others donated.

Chances are I will be getting ride of my complete collections of Indiana Jones Adventure Series & G.I. Joe Classified.

Feels very freeing 😊

While I absolutely love the hobby, it can become overwhelming very quickly. I found it was becoming a source for stress more than joy.

I had a BD Clone Wars Padme with loose wrist pegs. So I used my paper towel trick to tighten them up. Also matte sprayed the face. Sold her when I got rid of prequel stuff.

Later decided I wanted one because it's still a nice iconic figure for my adolescence. Found one at a show.

My figure. Paper towel was still inside. Guy had gotten her from the guy I sold to a few months prior.

Well my 17 hour journey yesterday was definitely worth it.

I did quite well both financially and with getting rid of a majority of what I brought to sell at the Ajax Collector's Con yesterday.

I was surprised by the attendance. The times I have done shows in the past it pretty much followed the same pattern. Early bird entrance was a bit busy, then it was busy from full open to about 1pm-2pm. Then by 2pm a noticeable drop off to where you basically are twiddling your thumbs for the last hour or so. However that didn't happen yesterday. It was the usual pattern for the first 2 hours, but then it did slow down a little. However it picked back up significantly and stayed busy until about the last 30 minutes. Even then it didn't drop off completely like usual. I was actually a bit worried after the first 2 hours because I hadn't sold as much as I had hoped, but the constant level of people in the back half was much better for sales.

I was able to move almost all of my lower priced stuff with only a few things left. The middle range (price) stuff sold well and I think I was able to get rid of about 70% of that. The higher priced stuff did okay but I didn't move as much as I would have liked. Although it was also stuff I was okay with keeping so I wasn't too flexible on that pricing.

I don't know how it is elsewhere, but MOTU was definitely the least popular items I had. The loose stuff did well but that was because I was selling to move ($5-$10 loose Origins/Masterverse). All my sealed stuff barely got a sniff.

The big sellers for me were ML and TF. I only had a couple of Hiya 4" Joes that only sold with a discount (surprising) and a few SW:BS that also sold only with good pricing.

Edit: Sorry I forgot I had the whole first wave of the Joe Ultimates (Super7) and only CC and the BAT sold at at less than half of normal Canadian pricing.

So again it definitely ended up being worth the 6 hour drive (round trip) and was nice to free up some space and move items I wasn't really attached to anymore. Now I have to see about trying to get into a local show for another go at clearing space.

I hear a lot of guys need paper towels after looking at Padme, but for different reasons.

Speaking of tightening things up (tee hee), what do you guys use to help tighten loose or floppy joints? Cuz I have a few figures that have pretty loose joints- hands, waist, head, etc. that I'm thinking of offloading and rebuying a hopefully better copy, but if I can avoid all the hassle, I'd like to.

For wrist, feet, and heads I like paper towel because you can adjust thickness and it's not permanent.

Never adjusted a waist.

For pinned arms and knees, super glue (work it until it's dry and just leaves grit) or Pledge floor polish. Leaves a removable residue that adds friction.
