McFarlane DC Multiverse

Thank you for the heads up. I've never used that retailer, but I went and checked it out. The price for the figure was going to be $33.41 in US Dollars but the shipping and duties came out to be an additional $34.52, so even with the 8% discount it came up to around $65 US. That's about double retail, so I'll continue to play the waiting game. Thank you for making me aware, though!

Again, it does make me appreciate ToySnowman who is shipping me 3 figures from Canada to the US for $8.99 shipping. I don't like to ever pay any shipping if I can help it, but there are levels of what is acceptable and what isn't for me.

I’ve always wondered how Toy Snowman manages such low shipping prices to the U.S. I suspect they may just cross over the border to ship their packages out from the U.S., so that may be an advantage they have over the other Canadian retailers.

Also agree with the earlier sentiment that it is asinine that it is (or was) easier to get McFarlane product by importing from Canada than relying on U.S. retailers. I lay all of that blame on McFarlane Toys.

With the disparity of population between countries, exclusives probably wouldn’t work well in Canada. Gold Label, Platinum, and Red Platinum is seemingly meaningless north of the border. My guess anyway.

Got shipping notification from MTS on my Batman Day bundle. Actually 5/7. Probably get here Monday.

has anyone ordered from the canadian stores lately? how big are the tariffs? is it a separate fee that the shipping company collects?

My last Canadian order came in prior to the tariffs going into effect. Don’t remember off the top of my head which figure it was. But a couple of things seem to have changed in the interim:

1) Canadian online retailers aren’t getting the product as quickly as they used to.

2) CMD appears to have lowered some of their retail prices to compensate for the tariff. Perhaps Todd has lowered his wholesale prices to Canadian distributors, or lowered the discount threshold. Don’t really know. Just speculation.

Truth is, I’d rather pay the tariff if I have to for Black Condor or Gangbuster than roll the ebay dice. Both are drop dead must haves for me. Jack Knight too if he’s still a Red Platinum.

Picked up Blackfire yesterday at EB and promptly forgot about it until I found it on my coffee table just now.

Nice! I hope to find her and Cheetah at some point but already know that it will likely be an Ebay purchase for twice retail.

I kind of ranted about this a few days ago.

ToySnowman has it all figured out in paying the tariffs upfront and sticking to their standard and very fair shipping rates to the US. I paid $8.99 shipping earlier this week for 3 figures. They're my personal recommendation.

CMD has split the cost of their product in two in an attempt to reduce the tariff. They are charging one price for the item (that the tarriff applies to) and an additional "handling fee" on top that the tariff doesn't apply to, plus shipping on top of that. The additional handling charge seems to be around an additional 40% on top of the shown unit price that you don't see until you go to checkout. So, an example that I saw was they had an listed cost of like $19 for what would have been a $25 figure before, on top of that $19 there is also something like a $8-9 handling fee. If you have multiple items in your cart then they only quote one handling fee, but it's pretty easy to see what they're doing as you add one item at a time to your cart. I found it was going to be far more expensive to deal with them, so I've decided that I just won't.

@altcunningham introduced me to DJC earlier this week, who had Cheetah in stock. The price of the figure was reasonable in US$ at like $33, but the shipping and handling was going to cost more than the figure itself for a total cost approaching $70. I believe they also are paying the tariff up front from that amount, but don't quote me on that.

Others like figurines for all are just refusing to ship to the US altogether.

I can tell you that I've had multiple items arrive from ToySnowman in very recent history and never had any additional tariff charges after the fact. I don't think that I have direct experience with these others since things changed in August (I believe). To this point I haven't had to pay anything additional than what I paid directly through the associated websites upfront. No charge added by the post office or anyplace else after the fact.

FINALLY my Batman Returns bundle shipped from the McFarlane store!!

Yeesh.
I’ve been wondering why this was taking so long. Then I went back and looked. Fifteen separate items went up for preorder in the space of 72 hours. No wonder they were backed up. Two months is still a pretty long preorder period.

I still have Returns Batman, Commando penguins and Catwoman awaiting fulfillment at MTS....was not expecting to be at the back of the cue and for so long. The excitement has waned to a meh!

I have half my Returns orders from MTS. Half shipped a month ago, the other half is sitting waiting to be sent. Fortunately most are just duplicates, but as you say, meh. Excitement killer.

Finally, FINALLY got my Batman Returns bundle!!

AND, although it took three separate purchases to achieve it, I FINALLY have the movie Penguin I have always wanted: in his onesie, with his coat AND hat and umbrella. Also that coat from the Penguin Commandos set DOES have the proper cape attached that the single-card lacks!! It’s perfect. I don’t really miss the cape on the Mayor version but it totally “makes” the sewer version. Damn great.
