Masters of the Universe: Origins

I can't speak for anyone else, but their game isn't working on me. I've stopped buying Origins altogether. I seriously considered the new version of Grayskull, and even decided against that. Make Blade and Two-Bad, or fuck off.

I ordered Stingor. Was waffling on getting a subscription and seeing if I got the offer for 20% off She-Ra and Swiftwind. But I went with just Stingor. I'll see if Swiftwind goes on sale during Black Friday time. I wouldn't mind Sharella but that $10 subscription surcharge really turns me off.

Just received Sting-Or and a perfect copy of Sharella. Not sure what I'll do with my copy with the misprinted eyes.. Maybe there's a head I can swap onto that one. This is such a modular figure line, it should be easy to swap/customize.

OK, had some time to open these. To get this out of the way, Sharella has a very pale skin tone that matches no other MotUO females. So I won't be swapping heads with anyone. Also, for those curious, her fur bra is removable, and a brown painted strapless bra is left on the torso to cover the bosoms. She's not bare under there.

STING-OR! So this figure was so well done. Really took a lot of care to make this a unique, fun figure. His face sculpt is great, really animalistic. His body is a ribbed sculpt, maybe reused from one of the Snake Men? H has big clawed Whiplash feet and tri-clawed Modulok hands, and one alternate human right hand. He also comes with a big claw (similar to Clawful), which has no peg, so it seems to only stay on with friction? It won't fit over the tri-claw, but won't stay on over just the forearm with no hand. The human hand seems to provide the necessary friction for it to stay on. I will be using both tri-claw hands, as not EVERY MotU character needs to have asymmetrical hands. He comes with a Horde shield with two large prongs at the bottom. And of course, his tail, which has five hinge joints, allowing it to curl up tight until he's ready to strike. He really looks great, but man, I wish they'd put this kind of effort into figures we are actually asking for to finish the vintage characters. Despite this, Sting-Or is an excellent addition to the Horde and MotUO overall.

I opened up the 200x Beast Man who looks absolutely perfect but mine had a stuck elbow joint that even after heating would not articulate and it just snapped off. Luckily I bought from BBTS so they will take care of me but still annoying.

Oh jeez, I don’t love QC issues like that, glad you mentioned it. Will keep an eye out. Mine are POed at Amazon.

Yeah I can almost always get these things freed up without breaking them but this one was a lost cause. New Eternia Mosquitor's lower elbow joints on both arms were almost as bad but heating those and twisting them a bit side to side finally fixed that.

Oh wow the Randor and Marlena are 1980s versions. That will be two huge holes filled in the cartoon collection from that show. How did I miss that announcement, or was there not one?

No announcement, I don't think. Seems they've just been fishing Walmart listings, however it is that people do those things.

I'm more interested in finishing the main cartoon cast of the 80s show than I am the vintage line at this point.

First off, I saw where Mattel recently said that action figure sales were up for them, and it was in large part due to Masters of the Universe. That surprised me, but I was very happy to see it.

Second, if Wave 5 and 6 there are true for the 200X, then we know Wave 1-6 at this point, and they are all very solid sounding Waves. I'm actually pretty excited about all of these 200X figures now that we know we will be covering so many characters. I wonder who the Deluxe figures will be for Wave 5 and 6? We know the Deluxe for Wave 1-4, so we need two more. Surely Whiplash will be one of them.

Third, Filmation Marlena and Randor are such great choices for the 80's Cartoon Collection. I wonder if they'll be exclusives though. Still, I'll be glad to get them. But like you guys said, they HAVE to do Filmation Sorceress. She was so crucial to everything, and in damn near every episode.

I got in Sting-Or and 200X Deluxe beast Man. Sting-Or is freaking incredible! What a fun, amazing looking toy that fits in perfectly with MOTU. This could have easily been a toy in the 80's. I just love the look of this guy. Especially with his big Claw on and the claw scorpion shield.

Then, Beast Man from the 200X cartoon was equally great. It looks just like the source material and just has so much detail and color. I was mad at Mattel for cheaping out on 200X He-Mans sword, but they in no way cheaped out on the details of this figure. And he looks cool and goes well with the rest of the collection.

It's so fun being a MOTU fan right now, and I can't even imagine what we're in for next year with the Movie coming out.
