I can’t stand Bendis. His constant usage of filler words and ellipses drives me mad. Why does he need to make every character sound like a whiny drama queen? It’s absolutely obnoxious.

Decades ago I did an ultimate Spider-Man parody that did pretty good numbers on the LiveJournal scene.

It's long gone, but I drew one panel of Peter and one panel of Mary Jane and I alternated them in a 9 panel grid for three pages.

And it essentially went:

Peter.
Hm?
Peter?
Hi.
Hi.
*Peter Face*
Its that time of month.
What time?
Riding the cotton pony.
I-
Captain Bloodsnatch is pulling ino port.
I don't know a Captain-
Blood.
Bleeding.
That time of my month.
Yes.
Huh.
Yes.

That time of month- *hand quotes*
That time of month.
When...
I don't know.
You don't know.
I don't. Birthday?
My birthday is in October.
I knew that.
You didn't

It's that time where my vagina is bleeding.

I thought for a second I might've liked a Bendis run, then I realized it was the Kevin Smith / Quesada run I liked, and even that read like a "greatest hits" Daredevil story, which is perfect for someone like me who doesn't follow Daredevil that closely but knows the core tenets of the character and his more popular villains and social circle.

Bendis also gave us Avengers vs. X-Men, another fine example of "force it even though it doesn't make sense." The Avengers / X-Men go at it (then apparently make up and stick Rogue and Havok on the Avengers for some reason), the Phoenix goes multi-personality and embodies 5 people, including Namor, who other than casual dealings with Galactus perhaps and maybe Silver Surfer (I dunno, I don't read a lot of Namor) I wouldn't think is dealing too much in the cosmos. Has Namor even been to space? What do Jean Grey and Namor have in common that would make a celestial entity who made such a point about why it PICKED Jean Grey suddenly choose Namor, much less any of the other 5 hosts. Cyclops kills his longtime mentor and father figure of over 40+ years as one does. We get it Bendis is edgy, no one is safe except for my wallet because this was one of the storylines that took away from the art form so much that I realized collecting comics was a waste of money. Why pay money just to be annoyed by someone who clearly doesn't care about the material and then bolts to another property to do the same exact thing to someone else's IP?

This is so cringe I want to throw half of my comic collection in the garbage.

Every time I think I may be tempted by the Juggernaut I see the BAF ball jointed hips on the guy and I think, "no way". For $65? Ten year old waist articulation? The cut at the upper thigh where it meets the ball joint is ugly on the BAF and they didn't want to fix it for this. Nah. Maybe next time, Juggernaut.

It's not the clearance price some people are finding, but War Machine/Omega Red is down to just below $50 online.

I enjoyed Ultimate Spider-Man in the beginning. It began to wear thin after a while.

Bendis on DD was decent, but I didn't love it as much as many did.

Avengers Disassembled....yuck.

New Avengers started strong, but soured after a while.

X-Men vs. Avengers was terrible. Bendis shares the shame with several writers that I normally enjoy on that title. I loathe that it did the whole "Phoenix Five" crap, that didn't make a lick of sense. As @RichardSimmonsRobot already noted, the whole reason the Phoenix Force chose Jean was because of her psychic abilities, but now it suddenly decides to inhabit just any mutant it can? Dumb, and made even dumber when it started hopping into characters like Echo.

Not being an X-Men fan, I kind of cackled when Echo was chosen and said something like "Yeah, look, the phoenix doesn't belong to mutants, you live n a shared world, deal with it"

I don't think the Phoenix has to belong to Mutants...just those with psychic abilities. I know in the Marvel Universe most psychics ARE mutants, but it's conceivable there could be non-mutant versions. The idea that it just hops into whoever is handy goes against a whole lot of established lore. Whether it be Cyclops or Echo, it just doesn't make sense to me.

That's fair, but like i said, it's not a bother to me. Others mileage may vary, I just know it was dope as hell in Defender Beyond when Taaia of Taa-an mother of Galan who would later be known as galactus was possessed by the Phoenix in the White Hot Room, and Tigra channeled the Phoenix's ancient enemy The Tiger God and fought off that old bird.
