So Elric is all the things. He's an excellent figure. I had to give him a hot water bath because NOTHING on him wanted to move. And moving him around almost hurts because he's so jagged and spiky. But goddamn he looks good. The colors are phenomenal. It would have been pretty easy to go with a lot of flat or gloss black and call it good, but they put a lot of depth into this guy.

I hate back scabbards, so that got pulled off immediately. The cape doesn't seem to hold shape even half as well as B&CW's does, which is a little disappointing, but it still looks cool as hell. The extra hands and heads, the shield, having both swords, and the horn, and his little bottle of drugs... definitely -easy- contender for figure of the year. Hell, he probably could have come with half of this stuff and still been an easy contender.

For blind bag shit, I got SUPER lucky here and got both of the swords that I really like, which is wild. I got the one with the short, curved guard that kind of gives a 'fantasy Viking' feel, I guess. And I got Excalibur, which is a super cool piece. Looking at it in hand, I really do wish they'd reversed the colors on the blade. If this thing had gold hilt furniture, and a gold inlay in the fuller of a steel-color blade, it would be 10x cooler. I might paint it one day. Will have to see how I feel.

I was hoping to get a pile of treasure pieces and even though I didn't, I really dig the crazy eye amulet that I did get. It's cool as hell.

Also, I immediately gave Mournblade to Nashorn and that is a killer look. Just wanted to rub that in for those of you that thought you didn't also need Nashorn. You did. You stupid fool. You did.

You can see that Elric's chest is a little bit more narrow that Warrior WBAC and Nashorn. A little more accurate than at first glance.
The one thing I was worried about initially was how thick Elric was, as he's supposed to be fairly gaunt. In hand though he feels just right. A thin guy in substantial armor.

I don't think I've seen the first one you mention. For the Excalibur, I think like most (all?) of this wave of blind bag weapons it's got more than one paint treatment. I'm all but certain I've seen reviews with the arrangement you're talking about. I know for sure there's at least two versions of the scaley axe (red and blue) and the katar thing (bloody and clean). The only one I haven't seen an alt paint job on is the cracked super long sword, but that one is black light reactive so maybe it's only got the one version.

Warrior is holding it in the picture I posted above, if you're curious.

Slight bummer if I got the lamer of the two Excalibur color schemes, but it's still a badass sword.

Nice! I wonder how long these bonus items will be in rotation. I do like the variety more than the power weapons (not that I dislike the power weapons per se, they're fine, I just like these more on the whole).

Yeah, I definitely prefer the unique weapons as well. Obviously, that's a bias that could change immediately if I get the one I don't want and then there's really no chance to get the one I do want besides buying more figures and crossing my fingers. But for now, I dig this. It's definitely more interesting than 'collect all the Jolly Rancher flavors.' Especially when that included -mostly- weapons I was far less enthusiastic about even in normal colors.

I've been re-posing Elric a lot this evening and one addendum to my thoughts above is that I feel like I really need to find a different method of attachment for his cape. I like the cape itself, and I do think it adds something to the figure. But wrapping it around the pegs for the pauldrons, which I think is correct?, means the pauldrons don't seat as well and tend to pop out immediately if you touch him. And that was driving me absolutely crazy.
Also, I REALLY want a throne for him to lounge on. Or maybe boat prow for him to stand on.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the figure man! Interesting on the Excalibur thing, I thought I has seen a photo like you described, but wasnt sure if I was mis-remembering. Yeah they definitely have multiple color schemes as mine is the exact opposite of what you described - silver blade/gold hilt.

Rabidly checking my preorder status for Elric. I didn't preorder til early January so assuming I'm waaaaaaay down the priority list. I should've waited on my Elric reread until I got shipping notice so I wasn't QUITE so amped.
