Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

EB has Hawk and Gief up for in store PO. Don't see it on the site, but it showed up today and the manager let me know.

Canada Honda, Balrog, Blanka 2, and these guys all say late June, but who really knows?

Maybe the Shadow.

I’m just opening the Exiles under the mountain or something like that.

New Dwarves! Oh man these are a feast for the eyes. I got the accessory pack too. So many Dwarven pieces! I could gush about the details and paint choices for these accessories for hours. I acknowledge how the arms can look a bit odd if left in a relaxed state. I’m sure the length is part reuse and part giving the possibility of more posability. The longer arms kind of give a foreshortening effect to make dynamic poses look better.

Love the big armored feet on the male Dwarf. Love the lower boot with shin and knee armor plate both share. The leather boot feet on the female Dwarf is a nice use. It’s still a big enough foot it doesn’t seem out of place. And the hip armor skit on the female is so damn cool! It looks like gold bars kind of adding to the wealth of the character. They may be exiled but they seem to kept some of that wealth that comes from the mountain.

There’s so much to unpack and explore! Gushing more on the design, love that new belt on the female. It just adds to rich cultural design for these Dwarven folk. Oh man the shoulder paldrons pop! They give both characters warrior bulk. They look awesome. I’ve given the female the shield and sword from the accessory pack. That saturated warm dry brushing and accent colors works well with her hair and the rich warm colors in her armor. The more muted gold pieces look great on the male.

I am thrilled to add these Dwarves to my collection. I’ll come up with a name as I like to create my own characters from the Legion figs. Sometimes I keep the names like Sir Gideon and Sir Andrew. Other times I find my own name. I’m not sure if names are attributed to these exiles. I’ll have to dig in.

I haven’t explored all the axes and hammers or the extra adornments that come with these and the extra pack. I will get to further enjoy them later. Awesome set! It was a long wait but well worth it.

Bring on Halmyr 2.0 and look forward to kickstarter Dwarf.

Thwipp!

I had toyed with the idea of heading out to ToyCon NJ today to grab some 4H stuff but it was just a bit too far of a drive. It was probably for the better, organizers announced right after opening that due to incredible demand they had to lower the Highlands Warrior limit to 2 per person. Legions fans must have been lined up around the block.

It sure doesn't seem worth going to these shows if you're going to spend most of the time waiting in crazy, long lines, and possibly missing out on the figures anyway. That's who it went for me at Zolocon with the female barbarian.

And right from the con floor this morning, there's already a bunch of eBay listings (and sales!) between $130 and $150 for the Highlands Warrior.

I’ll admit I’m one of those that bought at $130 shipped. Being in Utah, the mark up is still less than any travel to NJ would have been. Doesn’t help one of the best headsculpts in that set was the show exclusive. I hope to pick up the standard version later but figured if this sold out so quickly on the first day, the demand likely outpaces the supply. Really wish they’d stop these con exclusive parts. I’m patiently waiting for the Legendary Warrior since she has no con exclusive parts. I could wait for any if the only difference was time.

I was keeping an eye on eBay listings yesterday ... Watching a couple reviews, that exclusive head looks really good on the figure. I don't know that $130 is really too unreasonable as he's $75 at the show ($20 ticket and $55 figure) in addition to whatever other costs you'd incur attending a con. Unless you're a Morristown, NJ, resident, that is.

And they further limited sales to 1 per person on Sunday, so I don't think a lot of the show figures will be floating around out there.

I'm definitely waiting on Legendary Warrior, too. I'm continually surprised at how much she sells for on the aftermarket.

I noticed the Revenant/the Warrior had some real Viggo Mortensen Aragorn vibes going on (armor looks a bit like his final battle look, but in the worn browns and charcoal of his ranger outfit) and I always thought Ralph Bakshi’s Aragorn looked like Conan… and the Horsemen already have a straight up John Rhys Davis dwarf head and Orlando Bloom elf…

So yeah, I think neat, they’ve kinda got that ‘we’re making a new video game or calendar or cereal box based on “Lord of the Rings” but did not want to spend the extra money licensing the Peter Jackson versions’ look going on. (And what more true to the spirit of Mythic Legions than “we want to make LotR figures but don’t have a license to make them look like the movies”)

Man, I hope I can score one of those Revenant figures during the in stock sale this Friday. He's the only one I'm after, and I'm sure he's probably the most popular.
I think as long as you’re ready to go right when the sale starts you should be fine. I don’t think they’ve ever had anything sell out in under 10 minutes. The Legendary Barbarian was about 20 if I remember correctly. Still very quick but as long as you’re jumping on it quickly, I think you’ll be fine. They’ve got limits in place so that should help keep stock around a bit longer.
