DC Studios Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

So it seems very likely that we'll see a trailer for Supergirl this weekend at this CCXP thingie in Brazil, and that's pretty cool.

Would I be asking for too much to see some footage from the Green Lantern show and the Clayface movie? Both those projects are coming out next year, and next year is going to be here very soon.

If not footage, maybe some concept art?

I just thought I'd ask.

Kind of at a loss as to who ScarJo would play, maybe not even a “named” character we are familiar with? Hmm. Weird to have no Catwoman after that setup. Curious.

I wonder if Catwoman might get her own show like Penguin did?

I don't know. I agree that it's weird she's not going to be in Batman II.

On the other hand:
If it’s a “more from her in a later film” thing, I’m OK with that. I just don’t want her *gone*, but I guess every single character doesn’t have to be in every single movie. Maybe the story Reeves is telling in this one wouldn’t work with Catwoman around? I guess we’ll find out.

I wanna say I remember Reeves mentioning at one time that they were considering continuing Catwoman's story in a show or future film, so I'm not too terribly worried about her being replaced. Especially given her ties to Sofia, I'm sure we'll see her in some shape or form down the road. Interesting to see who ScarJo plays, though- if it is a villain, or just a romantic character for Bruce. I'd hate for a name like her to be wasted on a romance role, but if it's meaty enough like Rachel was, I guess I'd be okay with it. Saw some folks mention she could be a decent Nora Fries; depends on what version they do, though. I doubt they'd go through the trouble of getting ScarJo just to have her float in a tank for 95% of the movie. Maybe a spin on the New 52 version- whether romantically linked to Victor or not.

I always forget about Silver St. Cloud, but that's a good choice. Or just any rich socialite, really, especially if she has ties to the Court of Owls (I know it's probably too fantastical for Reeves' universe, but I just wanna see them on the big screen)

the Court of Owls (I know it's probably too fantastical for Reeves' universe, but I just wanna see them on the big screen)
I think the Talons (at least as undead abominations) may be a bridge too far for Reeves, but the Court itself has already been functionally hinted at. If I were to guess the “main threat” (a la The Riddler) of the next film, I’d guess Hush *and* the Court. I think the Court is a lock in the Reeves-verse, it seems to be directly what they are building to.

I’d guess Hush *and* the Court
Piggybacking on myself here but:
Actually, I wonder if Tommy/Hush will *be* the Talon (at least, functionally) for the Court. Hush is definitely an “anti-Batman” character in the vein of Owlman, The Wrath, etc., and with the added “righteous revenge” angle Tommy will have in this universe (given what Bruce found out about Tommy’s reporter father being “hushed”), it would make sense for him to be a pawn of the Court the way the comics version was ultimately a pawn of the Riddler.

That's a good theory. I don't know how sold I am on Hush being the villain for the next movie. Not that I'd necessarily be against it, I just think that the logic most people are using regarding the "easter egg" in part 1 is a little reaching.

That said, depending on how he's used, I wouldn't be against it. Hush has almost started to suffer from the Pyramid Head Problem, where it feels like they're kinda starting to just throw him in things based on name recognition alone; because people like that original story so much, they know they can just throw Hush into something, or do a quick little Hush story, and people will bite. But in the capable hands of someone like Reeves, I'd trust it. Part of my favorite thing about the comic storyline is all the different villains making appearances, but if I'm being honest, even if it's adapted in Gunn's universe, we'd probably never get all those characters anyway.

I also just worry that he's too similar to this universe's Riddler. Not as much as someone like, say, Calendar Man or The Holiday Killer, but still. Then again, Riddler being such an important part of the original story means they could keep Dano's Riddler in play without him being the main villain. I wouldn't be against it, as long as we could get at least a Talon or two. I don't think they'd go the supernatural route either, but there's things they could do, I'm sure. Maybe continue the Drops/Bliss storyline to make them feel less pain, making them more dangerous to fight.

At this point, I just wanna know who the heck the villain is so we can stop theorizing that, and start theorizing their part in things. 😅

Re: Hush:
He’s one of the very few Bat-villains where I think he has better stories ahead of him (perhaps in media other than comics) than behind him. He’s cool on paper and has a great design/vibe, but honestly I *don’t* think the original “Hush” story is well-written AT ALL, and the stated origin (“childhood friend of Bruce who was always a psycho I guess and like murdered his own parents but is jealous of Bruce because reasons and just happened to meet up with Riddler and oh he’s a genius brain surgeon AND a genius plastic surgeon?”) is frankly pretty damn awful. And he really hasn’t been used well since, except as a plot device from time to time when he had Bruce’s face. Hush is almost all potential at this point, and I don’t think anyone is going to get mad if he isn’t “true to the comics”, because the comics were pretty shit stories.
