Waaaaay back in the day I used to customize. I wasn't the best, but I really felt like I did some decent work sometimes. I started with Star Wars around the time ROTS came out, and Clones were plentiful. I did a lot of Clones, Jedi, and various bounty hunter types. When the 25th Anniversary GI Joe line started up, I moved to that, and got heavily in to modern military styles. I made tons of SEALs, SOAR, PJs and all kinds of other SPECOP figures. I did some random types as well here and there. I'm just posting some of my more favortie customs over the years here. I may eventually have something new to post, but who knows.

First is my custom Mad Max figure. This was so much fun to make. The parts really fell in to place, and the all fit so well. The head is from the Star Wars Imperial Knight Antares Draco...which is an expensive figure today.

Four years ago when my wife was away on some family matters, I got the bug again. I ordered a bunch of Marauder parts, and put together some Sicario-esque figures.

Operation: Bird Dog. A custom contest I entered on another site I used to frequent. A lot of Joe parts here, along with Marauder. Custom paint job (for what it is). I usually would do a lot of research on the type of soldier I was trying to make, and find parts that made sense. I always hated seeing figures with M4 style rifles, but kitted out with box mag pouches, or obvious AK pouches.

More in the next post...

USAF JTAC. These guys were Air Force Special Forces that would be on the ground coordinating with the planes in the air. They had their own specialized training, but at some points would train with the Army Airborne as well. I was always proud of my rifle builds. I tried to make each one a little different from the last. Splicing things together at that scale was never much fun.

Like I said, I was pretty enamored with all things special forces. This was my take on Chris Kyle. I know he was kinda controversial later in life, but I like putting this one together. Even if he couldn't put his arms down.

These are some random characters I did over the years as well. Shotaro Kaneda, The Crow, Ethan Hunt, and Jack Bauer.

More still...

As I said, I started with Star Wars customs. A lot of these I even had back stories for. The Clone ARCs towards the middle were the Null ARCs from the Republic Commando book series. I loved them so much. The Mando banner, my wife hand stitched in a night for me. I still have it around...somewhere.

Some more Star Wars customs. Again, a lot of Clones and Jedi.

I actually think about your military guys a lot when considering 1/12 customs, but no way can one have a bunch of parts like that these days. Really awesome stuff though.

Thanks.

It is unfortunate that we don't have a 1/12 place like Marauder. The sculptors and casting people for the scale are out there, but not cheap at all. I have put together a couple of custom Classified figures, but overall I'm not happy with how they look, so they've all mostly been boxed up.
