CREATIVE BEAST STUDIOS Beasts of the Meso/Ceno/Cyberzoic

Coming back around on this -- as much as I've complained about not enjoying the posing part of these guys so far (and I remain immovable on that), I still love looking at the set. It's -very- pretty over there on the shelf. I'm looking forward to finishing off the deinonychus set. I think what's going to make this collection for me is a few more things. I don't think these will ever be figures I enjoy posing/playing with. But with a couple more figures on the shelf, it's going to be very satisfying to look over at it and get that instant hit of Dino-Riders nostalgia.

I was thinking about which ones I either had as a kid, or really wanted (I actually didn't have lots of stuff from that line) and what I could potentially want from THIS line to feel like I've got a good representation for my shelf. I loved my ankylosaurus. I think he came with one of the bad guys. Weren't they like spider-people or some shit? I've also got really strong memories of the pterodactyl set. Would be really fun to see how CBS handles the idea of an armored pterodactyl glider. Besides that, I only remember wanting but not having a triceratops.

I don't know if any of that exists in the regular dinosaur line, and I don't particularly care to look because it doesn't matter to me if they don't have armour and a rider. I'm -fairly- sure there's already a triceratops sculpt (like.. several of them, actually, I think) so hopefully that's on deck for once all the KS stuff is out there. I don't want to think about how much an armoured triceratops with a rider is going to cost, but I'd probably have to have it.

Yeah, the Ankylosaurus had an Ant dude.

It was the frog leader, then they had Cobra and Ant minions, then introduced a gator guy that I never got.

I've taken a trio of those DR baddies and up-bashed them onto BridgeDirect Bilbos and they're fun. They're too small to use with this CZ line, and still unpainted on the back-burner. They had like five or six diff critter heads, my fave being the skate/ray dude.

Here, have a leaping Smiley pic:

I had to drill the socket hole thru both the harness and the belly due to where the harness rests right over his solar plexus; but he can still be used with the stand nude or not. I've glued the helmet and saddle each together as solid pieces, but the helmet rides too high on him and I'm thinking of adjusting it so it rides lower... somehow. The gripstraps are also glued in place, but the canon handles are only going to get some friction-glue as they move around in the cannon-sockets a bit too freely, and I fear them being easily lost.

I'm curious whether any of this gear would fit Classified Timber, or ye olde BD Hobbit line's Warg.

While I surely will not buy them all (space, money, etc), I want David to make dragons forever. His takes on what they can look like are really fun. Looking forward to seeing the painted prototype for Aries.

The Dragonslayer armor/jetbike is due from BBTS today, I hope it fits decently on one of my various Hammonds, esp the Carno.

I'm fairly non-plussed about it so far. It looks cool, but goddamn is it a lot of fiddlin' with. I don't have the BotM Allo it's designed for and will try to get it onto a Hammond Allo and/or Carno; but they both have eye crests so the helmet won't fit.

Got a text message from Amazon saying I have a package coming from Creative Beast. Judging by the email i got earlier saying the mammoths are shipping soon, I assume thats what it is.

Yup, it was the mammoth. I'll open it up later tonight, maybe while I watch more of the new season of Prehistoric Planet on Apple, which coincidentally is focused on Ice Age megafauna.
