I found a couple of 3rd party figures i like the looks of and was wondering if anyone had any experience with the companies that make them. Rhe DNA upgrades are nice, I have a couple. But I'm talking about straight up molds and bots. This one on particular I am looking at cause its Cheetor, but there are other companies making ones as well. They also are making Tigatron, Blackarachnia, Megatron, Optimus Primal, and a whole host of samuraid up vehicle transformers.

So that is made by Iron Studios. Looks cool af but at that price I don't want it to just break trying to transform him. There's also Newage that is making the Ankylosaur.

That looks cool also but super expensive. I'll probably wait on a Hasbro version of that one, but are these companies any good? At that price they better be. And the Cheetor I am heavily considering if hes gonna be decent quality.

I don't have anything from either firm but I've heard generally very positive stuff about both their work. As I understand it, they've basically cornered the mini Masterpiece market so if you're after a collection on the smaller/more manageable side, they're a more premium alternative to the official stuff.

New Age is alright, but they're very small (unless I'm thinking of the wrong ones). Usually around 3-4" I think. Seem sturdy enough, but tiny.

NewAge is "Legends Class."

I got their Beachcomber, because I thought it'd be a better scaled dune buggy next to Hasbro Deluxe cars, but he is TINY, lol.

I love both NewAge and Magic Square. Legends scale Masterpieces. It's amazing how much engineering they pull off in such a little package, all while staying authentic to both alt and robot modes, in anime style! It's a mystery why Hasbro/Takara can't pull it off as well.

Yea i just learned they are all on the tiny side. I can't justify the price, especially if it doesnt fit with the rest of my transformers. Which sucks because those Beast Wars Samurai figures look fantastic. They are very well done. But they would look tiny next to everything else i own.

Haven’t been buying Transformers for over a year, but I recently discovered these samurai versions and caved. Figured I can justify by saying that the legend scale Primal is more appropriate to go alongside my other Transformers, since the beasts are closer to in scale.

I just picked up the Iron Factory ex75 Primal and the Robot Toys RT-1 Caesar from Alie. It was like $55 for both of them shipped. I will let you know about them when they arrive.

I also recently picked up a G-Creations figure called “Dust”, which is an IDW version of Smokescreen, made from a previously released Prowl figure. Apparently this figure is years old, but new to me. Smokescreen is my favorite Transformers character, but frankly I don’t even remember him in the 60 or so IDW comics I read. Perhaps it was just an easy repaint. Anyway, I absolutely love it. Very solid, nice heft, nothing feels flimsy. The transformation is kinda involved, but I’m mostly leaving him in robot mode anyway. If you get a chance I pick up a G-Creations Smokescreen (or Bluestreak or Prowl), I recommend it.
