That’s going to be an interesting decision for me. Looking at the reference pics, it’s pretty much split down the middle. I’ll probably end up buying both versions since it’s so rare to get a Greg Saunders Vigilante in figure form.
My initial reaction is that it’s nice to see Mattel at least trying to give the customer more at a time when so many others are giving the customer less. Then again, most companies do put their best foot forward out of the gate. I remember being so impressed with the first wave of Black Series...
It’s been McFarlane Mania for me so far in 2026.
Jessica Cruz arrived Tuesday. (Say what you will about eVilBay scalpers, but at least the turnaround time tends to be very impressive.). Dr. Midnite arrives from Amazon today. (Hopefully it will be the standard version). Platinum Zatanna is...
Honestly, there are so many holes to fill in our collections that it’s hard for me to get excited about sub-lines like Secret Wars, X-Men 97, and GamerVerse that by design exclude the characters needed to fill said holes. At this point we’re down to the occasional mini-comic wave and/or BAF...
I wasn’t a big fan of the Crossing storyline, but I did like the costumes, so I’m in for Black Widow and Quicksilver, but I’m going to play the long game on that one. I hope we’re still getting the leaked Vision and Scarlet Witch in those costumes as well.
Okay, that’s the picture I needed to see. The white and red costume details on the butterfly joints will line up properly in a static pose. I couldn’t tell what was going on with the other promo pics. I’m in.
Speaking of travesties…
That’s why I specified “classic” Captain Boomerang. 😉
Is it true that DCUC going with that version of Captain Boomerang was a Geoff Johns “Executive Order”?
Also, I think there may have been a Weather Wizard or a Top in Mattel’s short lived 3.75” line.
I would rank the Flash’s rogues gallery behind only Batman’s and Spider-Man’s. All of these DC lines, and no (comic accurate) Heatwave, no Weather Wizard, no Trickster, no classic Captain Boomerang, no Pied Piper, no Top…it’s a travesty.
I do remember that set now that you mention it. I need to track that down, especially since it’s the animated version of Klarion that I’m most familiar with.
I don’t think it’s as much about completing the Satellite Era JLA as much as it is giving fans a popular version of a character that they have not yet received as a 1/12 (ish) fully articulated figure.
I have come around to the point others have made that collectors like myself that have been...
I wanted to complete the Jim Lee X-Men and sell off my Marvel Legends versions, but between the tariffs, the limited output (new releases), the constant delays, and the inflated prices beyond the impact of the tariffs, I’m rapidly losing interest. I don’t think I’m being facetious when I say...
That was the most difficult wave of figures I’ve ever hunted at retail. The TRU truck arrived a day earlier than I expected, and I only found the 2x packed figures remaining on the pegs. I actually met the collector that beat me to them a few months later, and we became friends, but man was I...
Meanwhile, I’ve been happily married for nearly 35 years now, and I’ve never been able to get my wife to even wear a garter belt.
The world is an unfair place.
I’m having more fun with McFarlane’s current character selection than I’ve had with any other line in years, and I think that’s part of my problem. It makes it difficult to have reasonable expectations for Mattel’s character selection when you’re getting deep cuts like Blackhawk and Vigilante...
I’m glad you said that, because it’s given me some much needed perspective on my own posts. If the figures are good, I’m going to be on board in some capacity. I’m making myself out to be much more difficult than I am by presenting things I’d like to see as demands.
Yes, that’s pretty much my own personal definition. I’m sure if I was even 10 years younger, my attitude and perspective towards this new line would be much different. My ass is tired. 😛
I do. I also remember making the case at the time for completing teams early because none of us truly know how many waves a line has left including those who are overseeing it. That was in the late ‘00s though. Lines have become more resilient since then, probably because we no longer have to...
I don’t think that’s necessarily true, but I do think that they have to set themselves apart in some way, shape, or form from what’s come before in the last 25+ years. You’re asking collectors to buy into yet another DC line. You’ve got to give them a compelling reason to do that, especially...
