Yeah, I don't think it'd be your bag. I have a good time with it in a "it's pretty fun for TV" kind of way. But it leans very heavily on the nostalgia to paper over stuff when the writing doesn't quite do the trick. I do think the actors are all fun to watch, it's got some good bits highlighting...

It's not continuity issues with the movies at all. There are those, but I couldn't care less. All my issues are taking the show on it's own terms as a standalone. All of my issues are with the script itself.

I largely agree. They read as "classic" sentinels. The only part that doesn't *quite* work that way for me is the face. Specifically the eyes and cheekbone areas with the black shading. That feels very cartoon to me even though it also how they're rendered in early comic representations...

One thing I don't see many folks talking about (yet) is they confirmed the Haslab Sentinel tentacles fit in the 97, which means those blast effects should also work on the Haslab. So in some ways, they compliment each other for accessories.
