It's very easy to do! The main thing is to just make sure you give the expanding foam time to fully expand otherwise if you paint the grout on before it does it will eventually crack the grout as it continues to expand after the grout hardens. But it all feels hard like rock but is super light...

I did the basic terrain with styrofoam and then used canned expanding foam to make all the rock. I coated it with floor grout to give it a rocky texture and then painted. It's all pretty easy and is a trick I learned years ago from the reptile community for making cheap rocks for terrariums.
