    Mattel DC Figures

Given my personal preferences, I’m trying to be as objective as possible. While I’m not overly impressed with the lineup, it’s what I’d expect from a kid focused rollout. I’m pretty numb about Batman, Superman, and their adjacent characters, heroes and villains alike. Although Robin does look...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

Tomorrow is the last day of Toy Fair. Clearly we’re not going to see anything else new from DC. Supposedly, there’s some sort of post Toy Fair announcement coming per the McFarlane Toy TV show from last month. No clue what that might be. Or when it’s coming. Hopefully this week.

Let face facts…Todd’s first instinct is to probably put it up Mattel’s @$$ on his way out. Leaving it all on the table and basically tell Mattel to “top that bitches”. But the truth is that if he ever wants back in to any aspect of the DC license, he may have to play nice with Mattel. Scorched...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

Yeah, I’m confused. I get the feeling that Todd’s comms team hate it when he talks off the cuff/out his @$$. He made a point of telling us over the summer that he has the license until the end of 2026, but he’s folding his tent early anyway. Giving Mattel a “wide birth”? Why are we still...

Not confirmed. Just rumors via Alex Chen. He’s usually pretty dialed in though.

    They certainly have enough weapons.

I’m thinking both as well. Probably still be on the Jonah Hex buck. Whatever. I don’t care. I don’t normally buy vehicles. But this might be the exception. Thinking of tracking down a Drifter Bike from the Batman movie line specifically for Vigilante. Or Wildcat.

What I’ve heard about the Platinums is… Platinum Supergirl has a red skirt. Platinum Captain Marvel Jr. is Osiris from 52. Platinum Vigilante has white jeans and a darker blue shirt. Platinum Lobo is possibly a first appearance. Platinum Black Canary is unknown at this time.

I see these figures as a sort of trial balloon. If they do well, he’ll make more. Hopefully in a more economical format. I’m not looking forward to seeing the end of Todd’s tenure on DC. I don’t have a lot of faith in Mattel either. I don’t want to quit collecting and I don’t want to collect...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

OK. Been out most of the day. Encouraging signs for everything DC not DCM. But there’s three days left and displays can be changed out. I imagine Todd is letting Mattel shoot their shot and staying out of the way of direct comparisons of non competing products. Hellboy, Savage Dragon, and...

Doors at Toy Fair open at 10:00 AM EST. Doesn’t mean the McFarlane room is open or that photography is allowed if it is. Nothing leaked so far, DC or otherwise. The usually aggressive McFarlane social media team is virtually radio silent. WTF is going on?

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

Yeah, I’m not sure what’s currently available for Todd to grab that has the footprint DC has. To me, he definitely needs to look at some other comic book properties outside of Spawn and Manga. I think Image or Dark Horse has plenty of source material to work with. They did mention on the...

I saw that about Hellboy. I might bite on a one-off, but at 60 bucks, an ongoing line is a non starter. A regularly priced McFarlane line of Hellboy figures won’t pave the road, but it might patch the pothole.

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

I’ve quite literally wondered this for decades. Todd brought me into collecting as an adult. I had action figures as a kid, but gave ‘em up at around 13/14 years old. I’d always been tempted by the Marvel/DC figures from back in the day, but never really gave in to that temptation. Until Todd...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

Is it at all concerning that while many other toy companies are teasing and announcing new stuff leading up to Toy Fair, Todd hasn’t said much of anything about anything. DC related or not. So far all we know is something about QMx and Q-Figs. Whatever that is. I know they said they had news...

Mike I love the Legion. I just don’t like the mess it’s become after Paul Levitz left in 1989. We’re lucky the LSH survived after Bendis’ catastrophe. I'm very hopeful for the Williamson Legion and will be at the LCS on the day the first issue hits. But I’m going to be realistic. If you can...

Respectfully disagree with you SD. JSA has been rebooted out of necessity. Short sighted editorial has tried to kill off the JSA no less than three times since 1985, and always failed. With a few exceptions, you can still draw a straight line from 1940 to today. And I agree about the current...

    McFarlane DC Multiverse

First of all, I have to preface this by saying that when I say “different” it can mean crazy variations of the main cast like Gotham by Gaslight Batman, or characters no one has seen in years. Captain Comet, Andrew Bennett, G.I. Robot and the like. So yeah, Absolutes might work. But here’s the...

All of my DCD figures are gone. All my DCUC figures are gone. And I bought most of them twice. Long story. I wasn’t happy with Todd’s takeover. Not one bit. But I obviously came around. Turns out I’m not married to the six inch scale after all. But I did want something other than the standard...

I’m trying to recall when I actually became “Team Todd”. Best of my recollection, it was probably Death Metal Superman when I realized how bored I’d become with the classic stuff. I thought it was a fresh spring breeze.

There’s a nonspecific rumor indicating a lot of rereleases of various Batmen with fabric capes. I hope that applies to others like Alan Scott, Hourman, and Mr. Miracle.
