I never saw the shipping box picture either. I do remember talk about a GA Hawkgirl and apparently there were pictures. But I never saw those either. Supposed to have been in a 2-pack with GA Hawkman. Which did come out in wave 19.

I can do neither. That’s a new one for me. But yeah, Mera. Bring her on.

So if I’m reading this right, take the lesser known Bat characters and drop them into a secondary line? Red Rain Batman Cavalier 50’s Batwoman Gotham Girl Firefly And this won’t step on the main lineup? Okay. But I’m still skeptical.

I just don’t understand how a Batman (or Superman) sub-line doesn’t bleed off the main line? It seems counterintuitive to me.

And I didn’t think it was a good idea then either.

This talk about a sub-line featuring Batman makes my eyeballs itch. The Batman sub-line sales increase while sales of the main line (where some variety exists, thus what I’m more interested in) declines. Removing Batman from the main roster will decrease the chances of success. I think even a...

I think a lot of people are missing a fairly large distinction between the WWE and DC. While DC has a roster of thousands of costumed and super-powered characters, only around 30-40 of them could legitimately be used as wave anchors. Top tier characters. And they’re really isn’t much movement...

Yeah, a theme doesn’t necessarily have to be a story. A team wave or a family wave would work. Although I also doubt you wanna stack a wave with Batman, Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl. Wave anchors need to be spread out. GLC is an easy one. Also gives me a break as I don’t normally buy alien...

Things I’m wondering about part 2: It’s pretty much a done deal that Todd’s not getting any sort of carve out for a parallel DCD adult collector line as I’d hoped. So I wonder if Mattel might also do themed waves like the old days of DCD? Not in the basic line. Perhaps alternating with world...

I like Clooney as an actor. He’s pretty funny. O Brother Where art Thou is next level hysterical. But regardless of his advocacy, he’s generally talking down to people. I guess with that level of success, arrogance is second nature. That was my issue with Henley.

Love the music of the Eagles. Don Henley not so much. The rest of the band seemed like regular guys who wanted to make music. But with success comes fame and wealth and…disagreements. Lots of drama in the ranks. But they changed the game. Told David Geffen to go pound sand over tour costs he...

Honestly I hope it goes well beyond the Absolutes. DC has some really good stuff coming out in the main line too. I want Mattel to want to make DC comic book figures. Not just filling shelves waiting for the next media wave to come.

Loathe as I am to quote myself, the wild part about 70’s Marvel that I have to point out is that 70’s DC was a whole other level of crazy.

Here’s the thing for me about King. I’m actually not a fan of any of his stuff other than Batman. And now Wonder Woman. The rest of his work generally makes my want to sit alone in a cold, dark room. His Batman run is one of my favorites. Period. The numbers floating around the internet are...

Point taken. But every time someone says something about saving the comic industry, it has to include saving comic shops. An Absolute Batman TPB also isn’t comparable to I Hate Myself and Want To Die either. Whether you buy it on Amazon or in your LCS. So my point is will Absolute Batman TPB...

Sorry I didn’t make it clear. I was only talking about different retail toy categories. Barbie, Hot Wheels, board games, props, costumes, and so forth. It’s obviously up to DC to build its own media.

Mattel is regaining the DC license on an upswing. That’s established. But do comic sales, box office receipts, TV ratings and streaming minutes actually translate to merchandise sales? Empirically speaking. Not just a common sense feeling. We’ve all heard over the years how big budget...

I won’t argue or dispute anything you said. You’re boots on the ground. And I very much remember DC’s role in the downfall of DCUC. It just seems like there was a fair amount of apathy on Mattel’s part as well as greed. The then president of Mattel bonused himself a ridiculous amount of money...

    Mattel DC Figures

Mattel has held the WWE license since 2010. They’ve built it bigger and created a global merchandise franchise. Mattel held the DC license from 2003-2019. And nearly tanked it. Batman is obviously immune, but not the rest. If Mattel intends to hold this license for a generation, they need to...

This is pretty accurate. Default is post Crisis, roughly 1986-2011. I think this is probably the comfort zone for most fans and creators alike. My personal preference would be to use Rebirth 2016 as the baseline.
