    Action Force and Valaverse

I still follow Vala on YouTube, mostly for the videos that pull back the curtain on the design and producing processes. I haven't seen everything he's posted, but I can say it seems like he's eased up on the competitor bashing. Now, it seems like most of the bashing duties have gone to his...

    General Marvel Legends

There is a universe where I might've bought a suited Mandarin so I could put the head and hands on a costume body of some sort, but woops! They put him in a 2-pack so it's not even a casual buy. This is one of those sets that I hope wildly under-performs and somebody learns a lesson from.

    General Marvel Legends

This 2-pack makes me question why I'm even collecting Marvel Legends. All this debate about which costume they'll put Mandarin in, and they go with "guy in suit."

    Continuing my MCU rewatch

This never stood out to me. As far as I can tell, the border tribe represents the military, and they seem pretty detached from inner-Wakanda. It's always felt to me like this was some long-standing issues bubbling to the surface. W'kabi was so eager to drain the swamp and have a new king...

I'm too jaded to think that's a sign the line's doing well.

    Continuing my MCU rewatch

Black Panther I little bit of Saga Fatigue as I close in on the end, but also there've been a lot of shows and movies released in the past month that I've wanted to watch more. it doesn't help that I'm kind of meh on this movie. I feel like I'm *supposed* to like it, but I can't summon the...

    Acid Rain World: Novark

What interested me most about Acid Rain was the cool sci-fi vehicles. They just seemed so weirdly utilitarian. Or utilitarianly weird. Figures by themselves don't spark anything in me, and I am over-vehicled in thy 1/12 scale display even if they did offer them.

I started reading the Expanse a while back. Was really entranced by its real-world space science setting. And then it abruptly got super sci-fi towards the end and I never got the 2nd book. I keep hearing about the show's adherence to real science, but I'm skeptical.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

@Felonious Monk, that's...yeah. Basically yeah. I think a lot of these shows suffer from weak villains or villain let-down at the end. The Flagsmashers, fer instance, were ill-defined despite the show trying for the whole "good people on both sides" bit. But since they really only existed to...

    TTRPGs & D&D

I watched a review of Brancalonia a while back that had me really intrigued. Same with Dolmenwood which doesn't seem to be in any hurry to come out on pdf. I'm basically just collecting settings at this point.

Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

Falcon & Winter Soldier is one of my favorite of the Marvel shows, yet I really do agree I wanted more Bradley. I would've happily traded in the "guy who saved the world can't get a boat loan" plotline for more time with him. I don't have them all ranked, but I'll say that F+WS, WandaVision...

Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

How do you mean? We already knew it'd have to be a super-spy thriller; it just felt like a dialed-up Manchurian Candidate. It's still about stopping a hidden organization from toppling world governments with planted agents, just now their base is flying. It's basically View to a Kill.

    Big Bad Workshop General

@JakeEkiss, I get you. Like a neck adapter. I bet there'd be some interest in that.

    Big Bad Workshop General

I'm not expecting it. When Bill Murphy was talking about plans for the Soldiers of Fortune as a customizable line, and the swappability of the whole FMF catalog, he said Naughty or Nice was the exception because it was developed by someone else through FMF. I'd assume the NPCs will continue to...

Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies and Streaming Series Discussion

I disagree. I think the show really started to fall apart after the trip to Pakistan, but not for that reason. I really enjoyed how the show gave me a view into a Pakistani family and the journey back to the Partition served both the story and that insight. So I like it conceptually, but the...

    Star Trek

Holy carp! A swappable torso AND a plank to walk? These guys really go all-in. AND I just noticed Geordi comes with an arch. That's great. I mean, I'm not interested in "alternate looks" for the characters, but they really brought it. But I am super-in for that Romulan commander. You...

    TTRPGs & D&D

Not being allowed to fail is its own issue with me. A risk of failure is what makes playing adventures fun and what makes rewards valuable. For me. Tangent, there's a game system called Gumshoe that I'm interested in trying. It's designed specifically for investigating (and has an extensive...

Poll/discussion: Do you keep just the definitive version of each character or collect multiple versions?

I selected 'one definitive version' but what I really mean is that I've picked a single point in time for Marvel Comics and that's the look. My Marvel shelf is all Secret Wars/OHotMU costumes. That's the formative years of my comic reading so for many it's the default look in my mind.

    Star Treks - Personal Logs

Goddammit, @Goldbug! You said Episode 4! This was five!! Otherwise, heck yeah what an awesome episode. A real, honest to God exploration of the unknown with puzzles to solve and aliens to fight. It really had me guessing to the end. Except for Goldbug's spoiler, I guess. I even liked Pelia...

    TTRPGs & D&D

I personally really like a good skill system because of how it outlines how characters interact with the world when not trying to kill it. It highlights interests while reining in options. What I don't need is something too granular, where we're concerned about his Arcana 16 vs. her Arcana 12...

    TTRPGs & D&D

Barely a nitpick because it's just a personal preference, but I find these weapon rune rules to be the logical extension of the handholding trend in Pathfinder. I was excited that there were magic item creation rules in 3e. They were little recipes where you had to know the right mix of spells...

    TTRPGs & D&D

There's a version of Pathfinder that's right for me, but I don't actually know if it works. In PF2e, there are a couple alternate rules I wouldn't play without. I hate that level is added to attacks, AC, and skill rolls. It gives everything such a narrow window of validity. Using the...
