This was my Top 10 Classified:
- AWE Striker/Crankcase - Oh MAN this toy is cool. Not just the Striker itself, but the Crankcase figure is also really well done. But OH the Striker; I love everything. The updates, the new gun emplacement, the details on the Dash.... this is EVERYTHING I love about the Classified line: Remind me of the Classic and update it for modern. Nailed it. I didn't think they would top The Vamp as a mainline small vehicle, but this does, and easily.
- Budo - Ok so OTHER than the fact the swords are, once again, mounted on the wrong side... This toy is spectacular. Both sets of armor look good (And if you have a spare Tigerforce Tripwire, putting the Samurai armor on that buck looks good) but the modern takes the cake for me. Plus two EXCELLENT headsculpts and a good loadout... yeah this figure is a winner. They just need to solve this issue with CONSTANTLY mounting weapons on the wrong sides.
- Leatherneck - This is what I was talking about before in terms of getting the simple things right with this line; Take the the basics and make them great and updated. Leatherneck is bang on perfect. The size, the styling, the loadout; all bang on. Absolutely love this guy, top to bottom.
- Flint (Retro) - Man, I swore I wasn't going to double in on Retro versions of characters I already had.... and yet I have, almost every time. And damn if Flint isn't just about perfect. The headsculpt is better (And the first one was Damned good!), the loadout is great, it all fits well, the improved articulation and hands.... damned if he is just about perfect. Great figure.
- Slice and Dice - If you want an indication that Classified knows it's stuff, it's that they make Ninja Force characters must haves. I mean NF was like, the end of the line just about for Joe. It was when a bunch of people peaced out (I lasted a little longer) and while S&D were better regarded than some others, they were still in that category. But Oh my oh my once again Classified Shows us they know how to update a toy. Honestly i have no notes. They're this low because I like the others better, but I wouldn't change anything about these guys.
- Crystal Ball - As with S&D, this is an example of taking a dumb character and making him cool. The idea of CB being this guy who uses gas and hallucinogens to make people trip out is cool, and giving him all the glowy green parts to show those effects is a genius idea.
- Short Fuse/Steeler - I never had the OG13 as a kid (The line didn't come here till 87) so these MIGHT be the first versions of these characters I ever had? And AGAIN, its Classified doing what it does best; take the original idea and do it in more details with great loadouts.
- Law and Order - Other than the left handed holsters (&%&**#...) This toy is awesome. Order is a great new animal addition to the line, Law's colors look wonderful, and the additional gear is the chefs kiss on top. I always liked L&O more than Mutt & Junkyard, and that continues forward with this release.
- Desert Scorpion - Listen the figures good. The alt face means I can make him a singular character. And thats awesome. But let's face it, the real joy here is the GIANT ARTICULATED SCORPION! Holy HELL this thing is amazing. Again; Classified animals are the best animal action figures out there right now. God this thing is cool, and it makes this release one of the best!
- Mainframe - So I don't care that he is short. Let's just get that right out of the way now. I don't care AT ALL. Its Mainframe, who cares how tall he is? What's important is all the cool as hell computer gear. Honestly he may have been higher if some of the bits on the backpack stayed on a bit better. But he's still cool enough to make the Top 10!
Honorable Mention: Fans Hobby Air Eagle - This 3rd Party Skyhawk is a great example of emulation; take the idea of Classified and do your own version. The additions make it stand out as a "new" thing, the lights work really well and effectively, and the cockpit feels updated enough to work for what it's emulating. Great toy.
