Super 7 Ultimates Thread

has anyone bought a super 7 figure for full retail price and not regretted it?
Rocker Leo.
Legitimately one of the best figures Super7 ever made. Looks beautiful. Accurate to the original, but with truly worthwhile alternate bits. Rock-solid joints (mine stood on mostly one foot for over a year before I moved him). I would have been a Cult of Super7 member if all their figures were like him.

Sure, especially when they were $45. Bebop, Muckman, Baxter - they were good for what they were. Still pricey, but not to the point where I ever regretted it. The aforementioned Rocker Leo is wonderful, the robot variants of Bebop and Rocksteady are good, and I was happy with their Rat King. Their misses have become more frequent though and some of their designs are just boring and not worth $55. Definitely not worth $65.

I don't regret a single early TMNT purchase. They were exactly what I wanted Playmates to do. That those bitches pitched a fit (even with thr line beingba different price range, different market, no intention of doing anywhere remotely close to the same thing) --all because they used their designs, or rather paid homage to them--still irks me. We could have had some great stuff come from that. But fucking Playmates gonna Playmates.

Glad they lost the license.

It will come as no surprise to the regulars here but I have bought almost all of the MOTU, Thundercats and Silverhawks Ultimates at full price and there are very few of them that I regret. I knew what they were and bought them with my eyes open. I have had virtually no QC issues with any of them and very much enjoy the collection

Most of my early purchases were full price and I regret paying full price for a lot of them. Some because they ended up not being all that great as figures. Others because they went on discount after the fact.

However there were some gems in there that I felt were good purchases at full price (at the time at least). Mumm-Ra the Ever Living, Slithe, Bengali, glow in the dark Mumm-Ra (more so because of the after market on it now), Cobra BAT. If I had paid full price for armoured Monstar I would have felt it was a good purchase as well, but I got him on deep discount. Those are all full price purchases that I am okay with now.

There are other figures I like quite a bit as well, but most of them I don't feel were worth paying full price. That is not to say I paid full price for all of them, just that I don't think a lot of them are worth the full Super7 price. Especially since in Canada that price usually starts at $70 (when they were $55US).

If I like a figure I almost never regret the purchase just because it goes in sale later. That's the fate for most things. It's the figures I'm only lukewarm on that bug me later if they hit clearance.

I can’t think of a Super7 Ultimate that I regret getting. But I also don’t remember what I paid for each figure anymore. I know there are some waves of TMNT that I preordered, so I must have paid full price. Between TMNT, GI Joe, Thundercats, Silverhawks, and some of those tail end MotU Filmation figures, it’s hard to keep track. I know there are some MotU Ultimates I paid aftermarket prices on, and I don’t love doing that, which is why I don’t mind paying original prices for things. FOMO is a big motivator for me thanks to getting in on MotU Classics late.

I'll admit that I'm someone who never even considered buying any of the Super7 stuff until it hit sale prices at BBTS (40% or more off). I started with buying all of the first 7 waves of TMNT. I later bought some GI Joe, Transformers, Power Rangers and Silverhawks.. all from BBTS and all at their "Deal of the Day" prices that they were doing for awhile. Haven't tried any of the other lines yet.

For me - I don't care a bit about the Ultimates for TMNT, GI Joe, Power Rangers, Transformers, Simpsons etc.

For me Ultimates is exclusively about getting figures that mesh well with my MOTU Classics - so MOTU, SIilverhawks, Conan and now Tiger Sharks... plus Czarface because that figure rules...

For me most of the figures I've picked up haven't suffered the horrendous QC issues that some of the other lines had - especially Simpsons and Disney... woof.

Trust me, I understand the criticisms and complaints and the arguments about value proposition... for me it boils down to characters I really like in a style I've liked since Classics was going strong and I'll keep doing that until they stop making them.
