ML Monsters & Supernatural

It looked like they were kind of flirting with the idea of an annual supernatural wave with Marvel Knights/Strange Tales, but then it kind of just stopped this year.

As everyone has said, the classic monster type characters would probably sell really well if they fully committed, and the supernatural side is such a large part of the Marvel universe. I wondered if they were waiting for the MCU to go there first, with rumors of the Midnight Sons and Blade, but it doesn't really seem to be going anywhere.

Anyway, some preferred options:

  • Dracula (Classic/Colan)
  • Blade (any version, just with decent articulation this time)
  • Elsa Bloodstone
  • Zelma Stanton
  • Rintrah
  • Living Mummy
  • Werewolf by Night (just did classic, could do a more modern look)
  • Hobgobolin (possessed version and a decent glider - he looks like a halloween character regardless)
  • Mr Knight (or any version of Moon Night works)
  • Nico Morano
  • Varnae (either an excuse to do
    another modern blade
    or a gross monster)

If they need spooky A-listers as a hook there's always:

  • Man Spider
  • Cap Wolf
  • Scarlet Witch (any version, she's literally a witch)
  • Venom (Life story -
    he's filled with bones
    )
  • Iron Man (Dark Hold)
  • Wolverine (the version infected with the techno organic virus (i think) that essentially turns him into adamantium skeleton terminator?)
 
I think this is maybe the optimal thread to talk about the upcoming Ghost Rider & motorcycle offering so, ...I was just looking at him again, trying to figure out what is throwing off his overall appeal in my mind's eye and then it hit me; the damn gloves!
Why the hell are they white? I don't believe I've ever seen him with white gloves. Who signed-off on that decision?
The more I look at them, the more I don't like it. Ugh
 
My priorities:
First tier:
Finish off the ToyBiz Monsters Boxset with classic Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and Simon Garth.
Add in Universal Monsters adjacent Living Mummy and Manphibian.
Lilith Drake
More super villain-ish than monster Baron Blood
Gargoyle (Christians), because he's been in my Top 10 forever and I'll find anyway to plug him into any genre I can.
Anaconda and/or Bushmaster: neither are in my Top 10 but like Gargoyle, I'm gonna plug them in wherever I can. They may not be supernatural, but science has made them into monsters

Comic Baron Mordo because we should have gotten a comic version by now

As probably comes as no surprise, Marvel’s monsters and supernatural stuff is by far my favorite Marvel stuff, ESPECIALLY the 70s horror comics.

Everybody has thrown out great suggestions, and what stands out to me is that the classic Marvel Monsters are an absolutely evergreen opportunity to have Marvel-branded, “Universal”ly recognizable monsters on the pegs, certainly seasonally, and not doing that is leaving money on the table.

And I’d do pretty much anything to get a well-done, accurate Gene Colan Dracula, which has *never* been done before.

Does Baron Mordo count? He’s in the supernatural end of the MU and badly needed.

Weirdly, I could take or leave Frankenstein - he never really pinged on my radar the same way. I would buy a Frankencastle though, because I’m a sick f*** like that.

Otherwise, I’m mainly in for anything monstrous

Zzzax (he’s more sci fi but sue me, I’ll throw him in any list I can)

Spare me the spooky Wolverines and Spideys though - I don’t need cosplaying A-Listers!

Frankenstein’s Monster’s robot pal. I read one issue of Marvel’s Frankenstein back in the day. This is my memory of it:

It featured Franky and his robot companion being set upon by a horde of little freaks commanded by some wicked woman. The robot had one arm torn off prior to the battle; he used it against the goblin freaks until he was overcome. I never forgot how the panels depicted the robot’s vision fading, until there was nothing left but blackness.

One of these days, I’ll have to find out what happened.

Read this comic as a kid. The woman was a Frankenstein descendant. Looked it up, the name of the robot is the Berserker. I remember liking this character too. Would absolutely buy a figure of him.

PREACH! I cannot agree with this more! At this point, Colan Dracula is my single-most wanted figure in the line, period. It's honestly a bit ridiculous we don't have him at this point.

I've always loved the Marvel monsters and mystics, and I especially love the crazy 70s books that really went nuts with those concepts. It's a corner of the Marvel Universe that really is underrepresented in Legends, and the idea of them AT LEAST doing a few of the monsters every year around Halloween is such a no-brainer. Beamish's idea to sell them in places like Spirit Halloween is so perfect I cannot believe Hasbro isn't already doing this!
 
They have waaay overlooked this area of characters in Legends, and I'm here for all of it, including a redone WBN with and alt head and extra hands. Considering that's the first '70s monster we've gotten in forver, they really cheaped out on him. Glad to have a new one, but hard to convince me he's a worthy successor to the old box set version.

I would love an MTO line of oversized classic pre-FF Kirby monsters like Goom! Would buy even if they weren't actual Legends, but more like the Titan Sentinels to keep costs down.

Uhm. I can only imagine it is somehow tied in to Disney and their other white-gloved characters. :rolleyes:

Nothing too back breaking, Hasbro. Just 3 or 4 per year, MTO, for the next 5 years or so. That ought to get most of the big hitters off my list…
