Star Wars Black Series

First review of the new Jango I've seen. Doesn't get too much into articulation, but it looks leagues better than the previous releases. As long as the articulation is an upgrade, which I've no doubt it is, I hope they go back and re-release the Loyalist, Mauldalorian, and any other of the outdated sculpts.

Guy's got looks at Daimyo Boba and the new Asajj as well- both look pretty good!

Jango looks really good. This is a solid Wave again. Hasbro did an amazing job this year with Black Series, and next year already looks great as well.

Seeing Jango makes me really want a young Boba Fett and Zam Wessel from AOTC.

Zam's been pretty high on my wishlist since pretty much the start of the line. Don't know what it is about her, but she's one of those side characters that just stands out to me. It's weird- characters like Zam and Tion Medon, that they chose to be the Sneak Preview figures back in the day, all feel to me like such crucial figureheads of the movie to me, despite playing such small parts. That period between getting the figure and actually seeing the movie to know what sort of part each one plays is a magical time, and one that I miss now that they don't do all the side characters.

Young Boba feel surprising to me too that we haven't gotten. I'm sure there's some Omega parts he could reuse.

“Young Boba Fett”, the new series coming to Disney+ this Spring. Starting Kunal Khemu as Boba Fett.

That AOTC sneak preview set with Jango, Zam, the Clone Trooper and the droid was epic. They were posed, as was the way with AOTC figures, but the poses were really great and it was nice selection from the movie.

And I totally agree about those early releases. I thought the Battle Droid and STAP was the coolest thing when I picked it up. Then I saw the movie ...

Anyway, a Black series Zam would be great — and it is the 25th anniversary of AOTC in 2027!

There are so many AOTC figures I'd want. Typho, Zam, Young Boba, all the Seperatists people like Poggle the Lesser, Wat Tambor, Rune and Nute, etc, then Jedi like Coleman Trebor, Ashla and Jempa.... I better stop, because I'll just list every character from the entire movie, or at least from the AOTC toy line.

But being how they just treated the ROTS Anniversary, I'd imagine all we'd get from an AOTC 25th Anniversary set is Obi Wan, Anakin, and Mace Windu, along with Dooku and a Phase I Clone.

Still, Hasbro has been doing better at letting a nice variety out in the main Black Series line. That's the one thing I'm scared of next year and going forward. Lucasfilm and Disney are going to have a bunch of new content again including films. I don't want them to stop this nice variety of Original Trilogy, Prequel Trilogy, and Expanded Universe figures they are putting out to make room for figures of all the new content stuff.

I'm excited about the new movies and shows, and the potential of figures from them. But what I and I feel most people want most is Original and Prequel Trilogy and Expanded Universe figures.

I worked the 6:00 a.m. open for that street date. I remember the hype for Star Wars was not tainted as much as people complain about episode 1, and the line wrapped around my Toys R Us.

But my favorite memory is setting up all the four ways, and my super Star Wars fan friend realized that Anakin and I think it was Zam, spoiled those twists in the movie with their features and accessories. Anakin had the magnet arm.

He was legit furious all day, and as a supervisor I had to tell him he cannot take it out on the other nerds because he was the type who would totally point that out to ruin it for you too.

Honestly, it was kinda nice when studios weren't as concerned about spoilers. That same figure would probably take us years after the movie to get now.

Agreed on all the ones you mentioned and more, Super Camel. I do think Coleman getting a sculpt for the Vintage Collection does boost his chances a bit for getting a Black Series figure too. Granted, they've gotten other figures like Lobot, the Bespin security guard, etc. Honestly, it still kinda surprises me that we haven't gotten a Geonosian Warrior in the line yet. Not like they can't re-release it half a dozen times with slightly different decos or overlays. Now that we have most of the droids, I'd love to see the Geonosians tackled next.

I worked the midnight sale for Episode 1, one of my last days at TRU. One of the most ridiculous, gross things I've ever witnessed. (If only there had been cell phones in 1999.)

I'm not exaggerating when I saw we had a backroom full of cases of figures. Pallets of them. Hasbro sent so much for that night and the early weeks of release. Despite stressing this to the roughly 40 people waiting in line outside, they still rushed in like starving refugees when the doors opened and tore into the figures. There was pushing, there was yelling. A few of them were ripping the J-hooks full of figures from the peg board and throwing them into carts which they'd push to some solitary, dark corner of the store to sort through.

It was amusing/disgusting to watch. I only bought two things that night, a Darth Maul and the Action Fleet jedi transport from the beginning of the movie. I remember I was pissed they raised the prices for everything with the new movie.

I bought most of the figures later that summer when everyone was marking them down to clear out stock.

I can't remember taking part in a midnight sale for AOTC but I do remember grabbing a bunch of figures at Walmart the Saturday morning after.

Yeah, as much as I used to love the midnight releases for things, I can't really do them anymore, unless they're beyond controlled, and some could argue that kinda takes the fun out of it. I just don't have the patience or stamina to keep up with pushy nerds, and all the disappointment that comes with it. We did the Triple Force Friday at the Times Square Disney Store and that was a clusterfuck and a half; once those doors open, it doesn't matter if you were first in line; if you're not fast enough, you could go home empty-handed. My boyfriend is big into trying to get things signed by celebs, and living in NY, we have a fair amount of chances. That used to be fun too, but the amount of autograph hunters, pushy/entitled fans, etc. have just sapped all the fun out of it. It's also a large part of why he and I both mostly got out of collecting trading cards; got to the point we were just embarrassed to be associated with the kinds of people seen collecting- throwing fits, destroying stores, stealing, etc. Nerds are awesome, but they can suck sometimes too.

If it's something smaller or more controlled like the midnight release of a game, where most people have already bought it and are just there to pick it up, or if they let smaller crowds in at a time to shop, I can do it, otherwise, I'd rather just stay home. Part of me kinda hopes that for whatever big Star Wars theatrical projects coming out in the future, they bring back the Force Fridays midnight releases, but part of me dreads the idea. Those poor employees don't get paid enough to deal with our nerd shit.
