Figura Obscura

Natalie Haynes made a really good hour long doc that’s on You Tube about Medusa as well.
That sounds awesome, I'll check it out.
I think I heard about the book via The Ancients podcast, which had Natalie on as a guest (also an all around good podcast, some really interesting episodes).

While we're doing mythology-inspired fiction recommendations, I'll shout out Madeline Miller's Circe, The Song of Achilles, and Galatea.
The Song of Achilles is literally sitting on my 'to read' pile of books, so will bump it up to the top :D I'll keep an eye out for the other two as well on my next bookshop visit.

I like the Ancients a lot as well. Prob second favorite History podcast after the Rest is History. Although I haven't started the new Mary Beard podcast yet. Sure its engaging as hell. Quite a few of those History Hit podcasts are worth a listen.

I'll have to explore some of the other History Hit podcasts, as I don't think I've started any of the others yet. Is the new Mary Beard one Instant Classics? It looks like it only has a few episodes so far, which always feels a lot more accessible (I never know where to start when podcasts are a few hundred episodes deep).

My partner loved Circe so much she got a line from it tattooed.
This is a pretty high level of recommendation! I'll definitely put it on my to-read list.

Yeah. Instant Classics is her new show. I do 100s deep podcasts by listening to alternating current eps and older eps in order starting with #1 until I catch up. The History Hit Medieval show is good too as is the one based in creepy history stories. After Dark I think.

I feel like I'm going to regret not getting the Devil...

I'm getting those same feelings.

Same here, kinda. But I have to assume they'll probably release it again in the retailer exclusive re-release. Might be a different color, but sometimes they look even cooler!

Which one?

“All my life I have been moving forward, and now I am here.”

(It's a little ridiculous the number of text tattoos we have in this house but probably comes from being a writer and librarian living together. Between us we've got Miller, Steinbeck, Ovid, Tennyson, and Goethe... Maybe more? inked somewhere)
