Funko nearing bankruptcy

I have virtually no awareness of any Twitter drama about any subject.
I have seen the Sleeping Dogs game -- the one with the greyscale or line-work faces, right? It might have been fully black and white, but I can't remember. I don't remember it making a huge impression on me, to be honest.

As far as I understand it, Funko owns Mondo. The only way for Mondo to extricate itself from the Funko umbrella is basically to buy itself back unless there was a very creative deal struck initially. If you cut off the head, the limbs don't just go off and do their own thing, they're left to die.
There probably isn’t a mechanism for them to buy themselves. Mindi’s money is funkos money

Moss is the one who did cool Star Wars art and was plagiarized and called it out. Early Twitter drama.
I only saw those Olly Moss OT trilogy posters just after they sold out. They are spectacular and probably the only reason I ever heard of Mondo, and I instantly hated them for making this a limited edition - they could have sold thousands of these.

Funko would likely file for Chapter 11 first, and hope to reorganize. During that time, once they got rid of some debt, they could continue on or they could look for a buyout - or they could sell off some IP. I think that despite the disdain for POPS in this thread, that the Funko name and that IP could be attractive to a Hasbro or Mattel (or another firm) as they are different in terms of product and have store retail space set aside.

Mondo - not sure their name is that big and if what they do would be viewed as complimentary enough to a company already making action figures to be considered something worth paying too much for. Especially as toy company may not care about posters and albums and so on.
I agree. I think the pop brand still has value. For better or worse the design is iconic. I don’t think they can pump them out as fast as hard as they do now but if they created call it half as many per year and better curated their properties it’s probably more sustainable

I think at the end of the day, we can all agree on one thing: Any toy company that finds it a better option to throw hundreds upon thousands of toys into a landfill rather than give them to Toys For Toys or donate them to low income children at Christmas time *deserves* to go under and be buried.

Fuck Funko *forever* for that.

Venture capital is the specter looming over this whole Funko situation.
Mondo will go with them, unless spun off (but who would buy in this environment?).
I dunno. The richest people in the world fried their brains on Twitter and Rich Guy Group Chats. Hell, the White House just put out a press release explaining that the economy is popping off because DoorDash's local economist said so. Seriously.

I wish Mondo would find a way to re-release some of their stuff - I would like the Buffy Musical on vinyl. I'd even buy a record player to hear that stuff in remastered quality. But all variations of the record are stupid expensive. All-new package wouldn't betray the original release, right?

(Side note - has anyone heard of anyone remastering those songs?)

They do reissue occasionally. A friend of mine just bought the Josie and the Pussycats vinyl reissue.

But I'm not sure who is in charge of those calls.

I've not heard of any remasters, but with the new show coming, it can't be dormant for long.

I totally agree, though frankly I'd rather kids get gifted toys that are actually worth the plastic they're made of. Toys that are actually fun, or actually look cool.
