U.S. Politics

I can’t tell if that smacks of panic/fear or if it’s just another distraction.
If there is one thing I've learned from this admin over the years, it's that there basically aren't any pure distractions. They merely open up new fronts on the war. It's largely why their actions are so mind-numbingly shitty (see all their various half witted legal cases). They flood the field so much that nothing is cooked with care. They simply don't have time to put real thought or effort into everything while running around with sledgehammers.

This one is just an easy out. It's a hedge against the idea that they might lose power in 2028, but also it strangles any further discussion or investigation on that topic. Why bother when nobody can be held accountable? To me it's just an admission that what we know about is less than what happened.

Ugh, gotta stay off social media for a while. I've been entrenched in politics and at this point it's just rotting my brain.

Let me know when the Democratic party grows a spine.

I wish I could say I was surprised by this capitulation to Republicans, but this is pretty much what I assumed would happen. That they didn’t panic and do it before last week’s elections is the only surprise. Such a feckless bunch of useless cowards and outright horrible people who just plain don’t care.

Let's keep in mind before celebrating; the SC could have opted to revisit the marriage decision in order to -reinforce- it. They also opted not to do that. This was very much a group of greedy, power-mad psychos being JUST smart/aware enough to read the current temperature and say 'not a good idea to do what we WANT to do right now, so let's do nothing.' They left this door WIDE open very much on purpose.

Republicans keep losing elections because of their terrible policies so their solution let's just make our own state...

Illinois's financial situation got much better since the last Republican governor held the budget hostage trying to get term limits
