G.I. Joe Classified Series

So, I unintentionally ended up with an extra Law & Order but I haven't sent it back yet cos I am DETERMINED to make Law a partner with the second one and then be able to use both of the heads on Order (Order is a very good boy, the other one is a barking dickhead). I think--I THINK?--Grunt's head will work on Law's body. And look surprisingly good.

But man I wish this line used universal head holes. I'm still trying to find a goddamned head that'll work as an unmasked Barbecue. NOTHING works.
Not even Law I take it?

Does the cop use the same body as Law? Maybe one of those heads? The Caucasian I assume.

When I wanna switch heads, I find it easier to swap the neck as well. That was why I wanted to keep track of the parts so I could know which necks would swap well. A lot of sellers on ebay only sell the heads though, so you tend to have to buy the whole figure if you want just the neck/neck and head.

Oh, I wonder if the cop head will work better. that's a good point. I keep eyeballing the in-stock ones on Pulse and talking myself out of paying the extra six bucks.

All this talk about where we end up in the collecting/nostalgia ecosystem - anyone else have a story of knowing exactly when they were aging out? I will never forget being SO MAD when I got home from school and my little brother had Fast Draw, whom I was DYING to get, and that was when I knew I was now going to get the cast offs and lil bro was going to get all the good stuff from Kaybee Toys... (All childhood resentment aside, I've got a V4 Snake Eyes for him sitting in my office for the next time I see him cos he'll never buy one for himself and I'm NOT going to make it to his birthday before I give it to him.)
I feel I semi-aged out when i moved out, and didn't have the disposable income for toys. I would get a few here and there. AOTC Jango with the magnetic head (spoiler). The Darth Maul with the splitting body (spoiler again...my bad). Mosty because they looked cool and i could swing $4-$5 at that point. Then I became old enough to buy booze and that was it for a while. Once I settled down and got married, I got back in to collecting heavily around ROTS. That's when I also got in to customizing. And now look at me. Eugh.
Or fuck n fight, which is Rock N Roll's club name.
Huh. That was my club name in college....but it was more fuck AND fight....cause it did them at the same time.

I was a weird dude in college.
The Caucasian I assume.

Toywiz still being in business after all of these years defies everything I know and believe in. I've never known anyone who bought anything from them.
Toywiz was the place I bought my first online figure from. Republic Commando Scorch. I'm sure I paid way too much for it.

As for other versions of characters we'd like, I want the V19 Shipwreck from the 50th two packs. It's a simple look, but one i really like.

I never really stopped due to X-Men and Spawn and Star Wars, so I kept pushing all the way through college and the Army.

I aged myself out around 2005. I moved to a new state with a friend and nostalgia aside, I found toys started to suck. Even the Marvel Legends proportions and portraits just looked terrible and Goofy to me after the initial afterglow. NECA were statues. Franchises I liked weren't being represented anymore.

Made the choice to stick with comics and Warcraft, but I did pick up the odd thing that spoke to me - Palisades Zim as example. I think the last figure I picked up was Infinite Crisis Power Girl by DCD.

I got into a relationship with a woman who was a secretary at a car dealership. I was a bartender. Only once I was invested and earned the actual title of boyfriend did this woman become emotionally and mentally and physically abusive. What had happened was she was a secretary but she had plans to become a neuroscientist and once she got that grad school acceptance her entire personality flipped. She was the genius slumming it with the bartender. She'd introduce me to her peers as "but he didn't even finish college, and he was only enlisted" at grad school events.

But I was young and dumb, and I thought I knew what love was.

She hated that I liked comic books and video games. She hated that I was a bartender, despite the fact that was making four times as much as her cash, daily. But she hated it all in that really passive aggressive sweet toned way that people manipulate you. And when she didn't get her way she would hit me or berate me and even though I imagined I could put her through a wall, that probably wouldn't have been a good look when any authorities got involved. I think a lot of you can relate that it's really hard to be a 6'3" broad guy and make the 5'4 millennial thin girl look like she was the aggressor and threat.

She threw out all my graphic tees on concert teas because I was too old at my mid-20s to be wearing such trash. She sold some of my figures and music collection while I was at work one day.

Now eventually I came to my senses and rescued myself. In hindsight, she was narcissistic and probably bipolar or borderline. Later in life when I would get my own neurodivergent diagnoses and wondered, yeah, that was probably a really terrible concoction going on.

Anyway, once I got out of that, I immediately reverted to finding myself and the first Marvel Legend I picked up was Rachel Grey at a Walmart, hidden behind the Hot Wheels. I picked it up because of that Bachalo cover, and they nailed that head.

I still stayed out of the action game barring the odd DCD showcase piece until Legends came back, and it was that X-Men Juggernaut wave that put me back into the Check the Toy Aisle habit. So that was almost, what, a ten year absence?

I'm really glad that a lot of obscure things like Inhumans and Cover Girl are coming out now rather than even when I first got back in, because I feel we've had a couple generational leaps even since like 2020. As far as the paint applications and articulation go. I even got to live Mafex Sucks to Mafex is Amazing and Mezco is Amazing to WTF You Doing Mezco?

I head the peg at the base of the neck is more universal than at the head. So it's suggested you can swap necks and up on figures. Maybe not early ones in the line but they may have made the peg at the base of the neck more universal in size.

It's typically been more compatible to swap at the base of the neck, those pegs tend to be more universal.

any photos of how well the danger gil figure fits in? I loved the GI Joe Danger Girl crossover
Not in my Imgur or on my phone (I'm at work), but I can try to remember when I get home.

Size-wise, they're perfect, IMO. They're just severely lacking in articulation. I've been wanting to put together "Classified" versions for awhile now. Emma Frost heads would have the closest hairstyle for Abbey, and a good Black Widow body would be perfect for Sydney.

And having Major Maxim tower over my Cobra Troops is just too good, I'm fine with the limited articulation, as I doubt Hasbro will be making "SS Hulk" any time soon lmao...

Taylor Swift just put out an SS necklace, so hopefully America becomes more accepting.

In a world full of terrible billionaires, be a Dolly Parton. (True story: my partner asked me in the car last night if I ever listened to a Taylor Swift album, I said no and admitted I feel ever so slightly sexist by finding her so off-putting, but my partner then eviscerated me in the best way possible: "You went to the original Lilith Faire and I caught you singing along to the Beaches you asshole, that's not sexism, that's taste in music.")

Anyway, ON TOPIC! I have been hovering over the buy button on Pulse to overpay for the cop figures, but BBTS just said my order hit my POL two months early, so boom, here we go, just in time to get their asses kicked by Daredevil and Punisher who will be here on Thursday. Also goddammit, BBTS, I literally just shipped my Monster Force order on Sunday, yer killing me on timing...
