Skurge the Executioner BAF Wave

Yeah most that 80s stuff doesn’t mean much to me either. I had moved on to music, film and comedy. Oh and poor attempts at talking to girls. I guess the exception being Pee Wee’s Playhouse but that came out of my interest in the NBC Letterman show and design / comics (Gary Panter). Oh and LSD. Like I like toys based on D&D as in the Monster Manual; not the cartoon.

And same for Warbow to Martinex - new shins and maybe a chest piece?

Martinex should be an easy no-brainer. However, I need to express the imperative of giving him a simple paint/print application of those harlequin colors to his surface facets. If they phone that shit in and simply cast him in clear plastic, I'll balk.

On an unrelated side note, my gd autocorrect can't help but to incessantly attempt to replace Martinex with Martinez; which would seriously alter the dynamic of the GotG.

As I mentioned in a previous post, I had promised Warbow to an old friend and former collector that has a lot of nostalgia for that IP. It sounds like your mind is made up, but if you want that Warbow BAF part, it’s a Win-Win-Win. My friend gets his Warbow, you get your Executioner, and I turned a negative for me into two positives for others. LMK.

That would awesome. I will let you know in a couple of days. Thank you!

Plain. Everyone knows you don’t mix peanuts and COVID vaccinations. 😉

Well, I know it NOW.

I'm getting better, though. At least my backyard has stopped looking like a Salvador Dali painting.

It's the scariest thing I can think of.

See, these are the discussions I always enjoy. Lots of difference of opinion , lots of encouragement and understanding and a ton of humor that makes me laugh hard. It's why I loved Fwoosh and why I came over here after the multiple crashes over there. It's why I never entertained joining a certain toy sites forum because all they mostly seem to do is belittle each other, argue and troll. I just go there because usually they'll have the best actual coverage of events or at least photos of said events displays. I haven't been able to buy whole waves of figures all at once in a very long time. I have a very limited budget for my collecting. Use to be bigger when my Mom would pay me Chauffeur money monthly for driving her around from about age 84 until 92 when she passed 5 years ago. I use to refuse the money but that just kept making her mad and my wife just said let her do it so I did. I treasure those last 8 years I got to spend with her. She fed my plastic crap habit bad! All that being said I can't think of a single BAF or wave that I haven't eventually completed if I really wanted it. Might have taken me a few months or even years but eventually I got all that I wanted. Yes I get frustrated with how they do things sometimes but ultimately if it's something I want but don't like they way it's coming I am fine with passing on it. I hated having to buy blue Venom to get the upgraded Cap but man I love this new Cap and haven't put him down since I got him. Blue Venom will be sold off. I do think, now more than ever, the chances of getting a BAF reissued in some way is much more likely especially The Executioner. We'll see. I love this line and it's the main one I collect. I'll ride it until it's end or mine. My wife and daughter can decide what to do with it when I am not here anymore. Hopefully a long time from now yet!

I'm excited for Werewolf By Night, but it is a little bittersweet seeing him on the Jackal body. Yeah, it was the most obvious thing in the world and we were all expecting it. But that was, no joke, 8 years ago! And all I can think is how much better he'd be with proper torso articulation and butterfly joints - MvC style Wolverine balljoints would get him in some really incredible animalistic poses. I still think the figure looks solid (love the head) and I'm very happy to have him on the way - it's just a little underwhelming after seeing it coming for the last decade.

Agreed. Bittersweet indeed.

A thing I find super frustrating about this line is that because of its longevity the engineering improves year over year but then it results in people wanting remakes of any character they like on the newest body. Its one of the reasons it takes SO long to get to some much wanted new characters because they have to revisit the top 30 or so over and over and over.

But then another frustration is when they do finally get around to a long awaited character but to save tooling new parts they put it on an outdated body.

But personally I'd still rather have the new character however I can get it... even if it won't be as good as it possubly can be.

@PantherCult I agree with everything that you said. In most cases I'd rather just keep the old version of the previously made character in order to get the new character. I don't mind occasionally buying an update on an old figure, but I'd prefer it to be the minority of my purchases and not the majority of them.

I'm also a "new character over everything else" kinda guy. But, I think it's just a fact of life that we're always going to be getting those same 30 characters over and over, and I'd prefer they put them out for the 19th time with some sort of upgrade or interesting articulation. Those A-listers are what carry the line, even if they're not what I think makes it interesting or compelling. I'm sure that whatever Wolverine or Iron Man gets made in whatever iteration sells better than Werewolf by Night, or Husk, or Starfox, or whoever. Those few dozen characters that get made over and over aren't preventing new characters from getting made - they are precisely what enables the line to stay alive long enough to go so deep into the roster of the Marvel U. So, being the necessary evil they are, at least they occasionally put some effort in and do something interesting with them.
