Tracking toy tariffs

Has the amount of figures solicited and released been down this year compared to the past few years? I can't tell if that's true in general or just for the specific lines I collect. I assume companies are waiting to solicit new figures because of the tariffs. The economics of character selection has changed significantly since the import taxes have been imposed. My guess is that companies are either sitting on figures that are ready to be solicited or halted the design process for certain figures as they wait and hope tariffs go down. Is that the general consensus or am I off the mark?

It seems like business as usual among everybody. Sure, they have to hike prices, but I don't think they can afford to throttle down their business plans when there are customers out there.

All signs are neon and stabbing towards a recession, but any adjustments would be well ahead from now.

That one's on me, as my last girlfriend sold me on the superior chocolate oat milk.

"We're in the middle of the worst economic downturn that I've seen in my 50 years," John Hansen, the president of the Nebraska Farmers Union, said at a regional meeting in Beatrice, Nebraska, last week.

"Agriculture is our foundation here in Nebraska and many states in the Midwest," Don Schuller, a corn and soybean farmer, told ABC News. "If agriculture is failing here everything is going to fail."

...
"I won 80%, 85% of the farmers. And I love them," Trump said in June. "I'm never going to do anything to hurt our farmers."

To a degree. It seems to vary from company to company. For Hasbro, I don't notice a dip, but I'm also not keeping track either. It sure seems like they're rolling out a bunch of stuff including general release items, HasLabs, and made-to-order figures. NECA does seem like it had a slow down and I suspect they were one of the companies that may have initially paused shipments to see how this whole mess would shake out. Mondo either did that or just got delayed by having to change their fulfillment model, but they're still soliciting quite a bit of stuff. Super7 seems down, but they're also adjusting how they do business so it could be a symptom of that. A lot of stuff arriving now had been in the works at the start of the year at factories so it's possible we haven't really felt the brunt of it just yet. New York Comic Con might help to paint that picture. I know with NECA specifically, their SDCC showing was very light by their standards and it's followed up with an equally light showing at NYCC then I would take that to mean the tariffs have at least altered some of their short term plans. For big companies like Hasbro and Mattel, I don't expect to see too much disruption. They're big enough to absorb some of the hits, and they're big enough that they could get the attention of Trump if they did cut back on deliveries and they probably don't want to be on his bad side. Mattel has already tested those waters.

That's the first tariff charge from them I've seen on a Hasbro product, unless others have had them. Always possible they're treating Marvel Legends differently from other Hasbro properties.
