Masters of the Universe: Origins

Hellfire Man looks great and I love the guitar. Too bad it will be torture to get up here (Canada) outside of maybe one or two etailers.

Optimus and Starscream crossovers are cool looking (love Starscream's wings as axes). However still not interested enough to bite.

She-Ra and Swiftwind arrived and they are magnificent, very unsurprisingly. My copy has perfect paints on both figures. The packaged pose deceived me. The wings looked like they were already plugged in but I had to do it. She-Ra looks like she’s riding Swiftwind but she’s just sort of flying over him. She’s essentially the same figure as the standard one, but has translucent hair, sword, and shield. She can reach the stirrups, which is the only real way to fasten her to the saddle. However there are two locks of mane that stick out, presumably for She-Ra to grip if she’s not holding her weapons. The wings have swivels in the middle to open and close, and they plug into the saddle and hinge vertically, which makes for some oddly limited posing. His mask comes off, revealing a golden mask that’s part of the face sculpt. The legs are very well articulated, and the tail is on a swivel hinge. She-Ra’s cloth cape is like most cloth capes from Mattel MotU, flimsy but suitable enough. I’m sure plastic would have impeded her sitting. Swiftwind has a great neck swivel hinge at the torso and a ball hinge at the head for some expressive posing. Colors are vivid. Construction feels sturdy. Packaging can be used as a display, but I’ll likely toss it. Only thing I wish it had was a display stand for flight poses. The set gets a 98% from me.

I actually canceled my second wave pre-order of MotU/Thundercats figures specifically because I wanted MORE of a mash-up element to the designs and I'm not really a big Thundercats guy for its own sake.. Battlecat Man is more what I want out of that line. The three specific figures that bought me into the TMNT line were the Splinter, Moss Man, and Mer-Man figures. I always seem to be at odds with other collectors of these long-running lines from yesteryear! :)

I was glad it was the Transformers crossover released today, because I just don't need those. Fun idea, and He-man is the best one they've done yet, but not something I need at all.

That Hellfire Man though I may have to get. It's insane, and I love it. I haven't got any of the Stranger Things/MOTU Crossovers as they haven't appealed to me either. But Hellfire Man absolutely looks like he could be part of MOTU.

Also, my Swift Wind and She-Ra sets should be here soon too! That was really fast.

I couldn't take it. I pre ordered Hellfire-Man. It's too cool. And I keep buying all these concept art figures of MOTU characters to use as new, unique characters. And they aren't near as cool as Hellfire-Man. So, I pre'd.

I ordered 200X King Randor in advance of the other 200X figures coming. Not sure why I skipped him in the first place. He was a strange one for them to do in the Origins line. I bet his body will differ in style from the upcoming 200X figures, which appear to use a different mold.

Meanwhile, my Swiftwind tracking number:
