Four Horsemen Studios Mythic Legions

I do love the way these figures look with the extra bits and pieces, but it's true that the more complex they are, the more fiddly they become. My kitbash knight and green armory knight are two of my favourite figures (permenantly on my desk, which is rare), but I don't mess with them too much.

Also, this might just be a problem on older figures, but I feel like the soft goods loincloth pieces are a bit too long and just get in the way.

The Turpiculi and skeletons on the other hand are a lot more basic, but they're so much easier to just mess around with and the joints seem tighter too. I currently have the turpiculi as just a regular skele with a weird skull (no extra arms or wings), as it reminds me of the stalchilds from Ocarina of Time.

The turpiculi is a perfect example of 4H doing "looks complicated, actually is quite simple" design. That's a great figure and looks so much more complex than it actually is. (The skeletal dog/chimera pet thing too.)

I prefer the soft goods loinclothes that have been coming out on the newer figures myself, but only because I feel like once one of the plastic loincloth pieces pops out of the socket, it never stays in the same way. I"m forever pushing that thing back in there.

It was their elves that first really got me into this line, but I find my favorite elf to pose is the Xylonian Guard because he's on a "human" sized body - the skinny bucks can be a bit too delicate or hard to pose, and that guy is pure beefcake. I actually popped the non-green head onto one of the armoury knights to make a new character and it works shockingly well (I think it was the gunmetal heroic armor?). The metal is juuuuust a little different but looks good enough as-is just popping it on.

This does kind of kill my hope for these re-dos. Because now, if there's one I want, there might be a con exclusive version with cool stuff that I have to pay scalpers to get.

I know these 6-7" figures are already on the pricey side and everyone has their own metric for what they consider "too much", but when they released Demistros a couple of years ago I saw plenty of con-exclusive variants with clear green heads and hands pop up on eBay for just $10 above retail. I wouldn't be surprised to find something similar with this year's exclusives.

Yeah, I prefer the cloth loincloths to the old plastic ones as they're more fun to pose and look a lot more natural. I've just had a few that seemed a bit long (mostly on Thraice/llythia).

I think the Xylernian guard might have been my first figure, and totally agree that it's really solid. That helmet is great as well, and I think it's getting reused on the crossroads two pack.

Really wish I'd gotten a couple of the gunmental armory knights. Would be great if they did a couple more army builder types that had a bit of a darker colour scheme.

I wish I'd doubled up on the gunmetal stuff too. The leather armored one looks great with the black panther head and tail but ALSO looked great with the blue-skinned Attilla head from Cosmic Legions, and the fully armored gunmetal one really is just a perfect base figure for any other combo.

Those crossroads figures look like almost entirely reuse and I don't care cos they picked ll the BEST parts to reuse for them.

Received my blue Space Marine from the Cosmic Legions line. I enjoy his chunkiness and how much me looks like a "just generic enough" space marine but still reminiscent of the ones in StarCraft. I may have to get one more just for fun, despite my complaints of how much MLegions are going for nowadays. Would like one in a neon green rather than military green, and perhaps one in a candy apple red if you're reading this Four Horsemen. None of the rest of the line appealed to me, but I like this model!

Listening to a D&D Actual Play this weekend with a really enjoyable kobold character and wishing / hoping 4H or someone who scales with Mythic Legions would do some "just a little guy" tiny lizard men and got me to thinking about what this line really needs to flesh out its offerings. Female rogues, female catfolk to go with the excellent males they've made, non-human robed, wizards... And man I wish they'd do more un-masked dwarf characters cos the handful they've done are some of my favorites in the line but I'm tired of the "helmet with big beard sticking out the bottom" heads.

I mean I'd be just as happy if someone else did a kobold that would fit with this scale, but I haven't seen any yet and since they're doing an even tinier lil buck it just sprang to mind.

Probably belongs in the Cosmic thread, but: Cosmic head packs are shipping out, apparently. Posting it here because while I love the Cosmic figures I definitely got most of these to use for Mythic. So, Past Doc was smart enough to get a spare body for the orange dragon head cheap by stalking eBay for a while and have had him sitting in the box for many, many months. But Past Doc was NOT smart enough to figure out which bodies the female heads will go on and I feel like this is a mistake. I never decided which body to put the female head from the other heads multipack on, and now I'm wondering which one to use on the generic female barbarian body and if one of the masked named ladies needs to finally be unmasked.

I was thinking the Blonde Tharice head might be fun on a crazy Kit Bash of Cosmic Wal-Torr and Phantos’ arm cannon and paldrons, for like an Infinite Legions Samus… but Phantos is so far away I’d probably forget why I ordered two and where I put the Blonde Tharice head.

I was also thinking maybe they’d be fun to go full custom, there’s a guy on Instagram who makes Red Sonya Battle Bikini and Lingerie bodies compatable with Mythic Legions parts, but then it’s like, I buy enough 3rd party blank base bodies if I wanted a Lingerie Knight I could buy a costume pack for one of those and then she could at least do cool Boris Vallejo (the poor man’s Frank Frezetta! When Arthur Sudan won’t take your calls!) poses, and it would look really weird to have Drow Tharice, Orange Cosmic Tharice, Azza “Totally not Blue Tharice” 2.0 all with stock Mythic builds standing next a weird gooner bride of Frankenstein with Mythic’a inelegant single pin arms and legs jammed into a curvy half nude torso

I’ll probably go with Raveana and Faustia, they’re from the pre-CJesm (sorry, know I spelt that wrong!) times so their sculpted hoods don’t match up with flimsy stiff capes, get them a premium wired soft goods upgrade and give them both unhooded looks…. They can be Hadriana’s enforcers or something, the three of them have similar builds that’d be a fun team!

I think I'll pop one head on Cassia and another on the generic barbarian. Just a matter of which is the redhead and which is the blonde. Not sure where I'll put the darker-skinned elf head yet.

Wish they'd do this with some male human heads, too. Even if it's just a reissue of Magnus and Attila.
