So, I was reading an article about the Gamerverse Nick Fury/Punisher 2-pack dropping this week on Fan Channel e-tailers including Amazon but it said the retail price is going to be $62.99... I was ready to accept the $27 per figure price and expected a $55 ask for this 2-pack. Tacking on an additional $8 isn't something I'm ready to support.

I'm literally just buying those 2 for the heads. An extra expressive head for my SHIELD Nick Fury, and that Punisher's faces look better to me than the Bushwacker 2pk's. Plus I like the money suitcase. Don't judge me, I'm not proud of myself.

I was planning on getting this, but if it’s that expensive I might pass. This set is by no means a must-have.

It's a must have for me because that game ruled.

And if I don't buy it, Then they'll probably be really slow about bashing two both of these Punishers together to make the one that we're all waiting on. Only by buying it now will they announce that he's coming out on a Secret Wars card in December or something on the black body with white gloves and that new head.

Did he have a healing factor from the jump or was that retconned in.

Reconned in is what I remember. I have all of his appearances and read them back in the 1980s, and I remember it being mentioned years after he first fought Hulk or joined the X-Men. I couldn't remember when, but searching on it suggests the page below from X-Men #116 is the first time they mention it. They didn't fully explain it or call it a healing factor until years after this.

My understanding was that originally they wanted Wolverine to have been some sort of mystically transformed wolverine. Basically a wolverine that was turned into a man and felt the need to join a team, wear spandex and fly around on a jet smoking cigars.

This, sadly, is the price on the GI Joe Steeler/Short Fuze two pack as well (and were't we all operating under the assumption that no licensing fees give us a bit of a break on these price hikes?) Yet again I am reassessing my collecting.

I don't think this has been discussed yet, but an interesting snippet from Ryan's interview talking about why ToyBiz could do what they did with ML at the price they did it for 25 years ago.

It wasn't new info, but it did address a perspective I actually rarely hear people voice--and that's probably because I don't read Reddit much anymore and most people here are already aware of his point. His simple point is you can't compare the base, the comic, and the added paint apps that Toy Biz figures came with to modern figures because Toy Biz was owned by Marvel so there were no royalties to be paid like Hasbro has to do.

Bobby Vala backed him up and also added that the modern way that paint deco is applied is far more expensive than it used to be although he didn't give any detail for why that is and I don't know myself. If anyone knows how the toy production process has changed to make it more expensive like Vala was referring to please do share.

Love the discussion about Wolverine's origins... I can't remember where I read it but I remember being FASCINATED by an interview with the creative team about his development and how VERY weird he could have been. IIRC for a little while he was a vampire, too.

My first thought on the gamerverse Wolverine's claws was that they were way, way too big anatomically but this entire figure is a huge exaggeration of everything about him, so it works. In this one case. Although I have X-Force and Secret Wars wolverines right in front of me and their claws are also longer than his forearms. Rule of cool I guess. Wolverine lies about how long eight inches are just like everyone else?

This is where I'm at as well. I was going to snag it, but not at that price. I've got the Mafex Punisher ordered and don't need that Nick. Now that I think about it, even if it's not the higher price I should probably pass on it.
