You know the fucked up thing is Disney has the legal team to defend Kimmel. Disney could beat anyone in court short of having the courts completely fall apart and there being zero legal system anymore. Part of me hopes that they SUSPENDED Kimmel rather than fired him so that their insane legal team can push back, but I also have ZERO faith in any corporate entity not to suck his tiny orange dick at this point.

And yeah, see you all in the camps. We're supposed to go to Scotland next month and I'm like look, I've been a raging whatever the fuck you call people who care about human rights for 25 years online, half of that as a public figure because I've got all my author public facing accounts. If they ask to see our social media on the way back into the country I'll be the first shave-headed white guy sent to Venezuela or whatever.

Seeing a congressman tell the FCC chair to get his lawyer and save his records because there's going to be a Democratic majority after the next election and thinking: assuming we'll have a 2026 election is putting a lot of work in on that statement.
 
I don't have any reason to believe Disney would take any action towards free speech, in this scenario. Disney themselves may as well be one of the two poster boys of modern day fascism. Though in corporate sense, rather than governal.
 
I wouldn't expect them to protect free speech, but I would expect them to defend profits. I never expect Disney to do anything that protects anyone but their own shareholders. Unfortunately we've very rapidly learned that people who hold a lot of shares in anything are deeply fucking fascist.
