Marvel Legends Maximum Series

I feel like we should be seeing more Maximum information than we are, for a new line. Even the launch was a bit more secretive.

Intentional or not, to me it just doesn't convey confidence and a plan or hype to transfer to the consumer.

They're probably just testing the waters. 3ish figures per year isn't very many.

McF Spider-Man, Hulk and Deadpool/Doop this year with black suit Spidey, Thor and Magneto heavily rumored for 2026.

I like the "idea" of the line but haven't enjoyed the execution.

My memory is telling me they said in the stream where they revealed Maximum Spidey that their current plan was to do two to three per year. Could also be an SDCC interview when they said that.

I also thought Ryan said the line was intended to be evergreen, i.e. they would do more than the first production run like they do with almost every other figure they make.

That sounds correct.

I suppose I'm more a consumer who wants them to go, "Three per year, here's the first six". I'm over the teases in streams. Just tell me what's happening.

I love the Joe teams name reveals and render reveals.

Like had they laid out even these first three, leaks aside, I think it might have set a bit more intent.

Are we assuming that magnetic field effect at SDCC was hinting at Magneto?? I got that vibe, but Dwight did say "I'm not revealing anything" or something to that effect. I think he would be amazing. I love my Maximum figures thus far. They'd be the highlight of the line for me if it weren't for the Deluxe figures and MTO being so overpowering. I finally got around to opening Spidey this week after just enjoying the MISB since May. He is the McFarlane Spider-man I dreamed of and never got. Totally worth it, I can make $50 in my sleep, but have never had a Spidey I loved this much on my shelf....after decades of frustration... Keep 'em coming.

Although to be fair my Hulk does have a small tear in his chest after leaving him in windclap mode for weeks. So that's not good. And I feel Dragon Man, Hulkbuster, and Odin offered more for comparable prices. Not upset, but I get the questions there. Anyway I'm in for 2-3 a year, and probably out as a collector if higher pricepoint items disappeared.

I’m seeing Deadpool listed at £45 occasionally which is what I paid for Spiderman as a “well I’ll see what this is all about…” purchase.

Ultimately I think the figure was still a bit overpriced at that, the accessories are kinda meh and the headsculpt is the ugliest I’ve seen in a while, but it’s not a purchase I regret.

Hulk was an easy pass for me but if I see it on sale around the 30 mark eventually I might get it for curiosity/fodder though I hate all the heads.

DP is a difficult one for me as I basically kitbashed this look from the Juggernaut and Sasquatch versions so this offers me little I want other than a bit more articulation in the neck and torso, I reckon I’d pick it up if it got discounted to around 30 but the value just doesn’t feel there for me at full price.

I kinda feel like this shouldn’t be so difficult for Hasbro to make the Maximum line feel truly essential but they seem to be fumbling and I am not sure what I’d really want to see more in a Maximum Thor or Cap that wasn’t already delivered across the parts we got with the last few.

Upping the articulation as a standard in the line should have been the benchmark for me but when it’s basically making an ML have GI Joe Classified articulation but not even in Hulk’s case then something still falls short, especially with silly misses like no stand pack-in. For the price point a standard size human character like Spider-man or Deadpool should include the generic stand that came with deluxe movie Widow as a given.

The weird stuff like the toe articulation on Spider-man not making a foot profile that can sit flush on a surface is still one of the most confusing aspects of it all for me too.

Keep an eye on InDemand Toys - every so often their prices fluctuate to a decent point on this and other pre orders. I managed to get an order in for Max Deadpool at £35 and Man Wolf at £30, both of which I thought were fair game. They might price adjust to full whack pre-delivery (in which case I’m out), but I figured it was worth a punt.

Is the bottom of the foot rounded?

It’s got a kind of sudden angle to the bottom of the inside tenon of the joint so when the toe gets curled up there’s a kind of pointed edge that is created on the sole and stops making a flat toe-print to rest on.
