All of these damned playsets that I don't want come with such fun figures that I absolutely do.

If that Snake Lair is $300 that's probably going to be a big old pass from me. Not having space for it is a big contributor to that decision too. Did they say anything about Swiftwind's parts being removable to turn him into Spirit?

If you skip to the part in Pixel Dan's booth walkthrough that I posted earlier today where they show the Grayskull repaint, he starts talking about the Snake Lair. Dan mentions the $300 price and says it's lower than the old one, and the rep says "we never announced the price point but yes, it's lower" so ... maybe he was just agreeing with Dan (which he does initially seem to be), or maybe he was saying it's lower than $300? Likely the former. Guess you all will find out in a week!

I think you misunderstood.

Dan said 'so the playset is 300 dollars, which is less than the original version.' Damon says 'we never announced a price for the original version, but yes this is less than that would have been.' I.E. the price for the original version was higher than 300 dollars.
This playset is already up on MattelCreations. The price was already confirmed at 300 dollars.

Perhaps I misunderstood you, yes. I hadn't gone to the product page to see the price listed, so I didn't know you had that information and I was reacting to what I thought it was possible Justice was talking about. But I did also say that what you just said was the most likely interpretation of what the Mattel rep meant, not having the confirmed price information myself at that point.

No, it's my bad. I assumed it was clear that the playset was definitely 300 dollars from all the videos I haven't fully watched, so I assumed you had the same information I did (the actual product page listing), that's why I was confused by the word 'if.' No worries.
Anyway, it IS 300 dollars, and 300 dollars definitely IS way too fucking expensive.

300 when they just announced a playset of the same size for what, 125? I really do like the stuff it comes ith, the figure and the snake horse are fantastic. But I don't have the space or the 300 bucks, not with everything else dropping this month.

300 dollars for a playset that is functionally the same as a playset that was sub-100 dollars a year or so ago. And yeah, a new Castle Grayskull for 130 bucks - which itself is fucking insulating considering the same tooling produced the last Grayskull that was only like 65 dollars. I'm not saying it's Damon's fault - but SOMEONE at Mattel is a fucking scumbag.

Yeah I hadn't seen the listing or watched any videos. The little bit of free time I had today was spent oogling the Marvel reveals and MOTU took a backseat.

So that She-Ra and Swiftwind look great, even though it is Cartoon Collection and I don't collect that line.

I love pretty much everything about the new version of the Snake Lair, including the figures. That Chimera is a thing of beauty. Priest Pythonus looks incredible and even the skeletal Lady Slither. The Lair itself has a number of great touches that really make it fit in with the other playsets and the play value.

It's just a shame about that price. And to pile on the "greed" bashing the Snake Lair in Canadian dollars is $510 (before taxes/shipping)!!!!!! I did a quick check and the current exchange rate puts $300US at $410Cdn!!! WHERE IN THE FUCK ARE YOU SEEING AN EXTRA $100 MATTEL??? And don't give me "tariffs" as an excuse because we don't have the same tariffs on Chinese toys as you do in the US.

Jesus. I knew they were overcharging on the exchange rate most of the time, but usually it was somewhat palatable because it was no more than 10% over the current exchange rate. $510Cdn is actually equivalent to almost $375US. There is no way that is an acceptable markup.

Like I said -- Mattel has repeatedly and excessively shown nothing but contempt for their own customers. I really don't know why anyone gives them the time of day and why they don't get absolutely fucking lambasted when they attend cons. The whole team should be afraid to even show their faces while the company is doing shit like this.

Man, BBTS said Fright Zone is incoming which we were discussing earlier. And honestly, I keep thinking about cancelling it. Just because of the space. All that I collect, do I really need another playset taking up shelf space.

I'm probably not going to get the Snake Lair for that reason (that and the price seems stupidly high). The only reason I haven't cancelled is because Fright Zone is a vintage playset. Still, I have Eternia and have never put it up. Honest to God I don't know if I ever will. That thing is huge!
